AbstractA case of placenta accreta in a 30-year old woman with one prior caesarean section is presented. The operative course of her second caesarean section was complicated by mild atonia. The postoperative course was complicated by mild atonia, which was followed by excessive vaginal and intraabdominal bleeding due to atonia and disseminated intravascular coagulation. An abdominal hysterectomy was performed. Risk factors, antenatal diagnostic methods, complications and different treatment aspects are discussed.
