AbstractThe smoking habit within the family produces various harmful effects on child health when the child is considered as a passive smoker. In this paper we have reviewed the most recent studies which analyze the influence of parental smoking on the incidence of respiratory diseases, alteration in the pulmonary function and presence of other symptoms, during the first years of life. A number of recommendations have been extracted to prevent these problems during childhood.
