    AbstractWhen no other explanation for pulmonary hypertension can be found, it is referred to as primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH). Causes of pulmonary hypertension, with a special focus on PPH, as well as recent advances in both its medical and surgical treatment of pulmonary hypertension are reviewed.
