AbstractPolyarteritis nodosa in a 23-year-old man gave rise to caecal perforation, colonic infarction and, later, severe gastrointestinal bleeding with fatal outcome. The necessity of early surgical intervention to improve prognosis in cases with severe gastrointestinal improvement is emphasized.
