AbstractThe technique of use of Barton's forceps is described. A series of 248 patients in a 4-year period has been assessed to determine the safety of the instrument. It is concluded that the forceps can be used with safety for both mother and baby under pudendal block anaesthesia, in mid-cavity and low-cavity deliveries.
