AbstractDomestic violence is a significant social and public health problem that disproportionately affects women and girls and often results in injury, chronic health problems, and death. Obstetrician-gynecologists are in a unique position to identify such patients and to provide intervention. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has responded to this problem and encouraged its members to act. ACOG activities reflect the mission of the organization and can serve as a template for like societies.Copyright 2002 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics
