AbstractA case report of lactate acidosis in the course of status asthmaticus in a 34 year old female is presented. The lactate acidosis was due to increased anaerobic glycolysis in respiratory muscles caused by decreased oxygen recruitment and increased oxygen consumption by respiratory muscles. The authors discuss the clinical significance of lactate acidosis and proper treatment of status asthmaticus.
