    AbstractThe history of the development of the specialty of anaesthesia in Hong Kong, its present position and future prospects are discussed. Special reference is made to the activities of the Society of Anaesthetists in Hong Kong which has promoted the cause of anaesthesia and maintained extensive international links during the last 25 years.
