    AbstractThis article reviews the pharmacology, toxicology, and treatment of both barbiturate and nonbarbiturate sedative hypnotic overdose. Although poisoning with these agents has declined over recent years, intoxication with them can still result in a life-threatening situation requiring immediate assessment and treatment.
