AbstractThe directors of neurological emergency-care departments were asked about the number and work profile of psychologists, occupational and speech therapists in their institutions. A majority of departments in West Germany employed their own speech and occupational therapists. In East Germany, a majority had their own psychology service. Work profiles and demands for personnel did not differ between the East and West. On the basis of the results, recommendations are made for the number of therapists required in neurological emergency-care departments.
