AbstractTranscription factors adjust the up- and downregulation of inflammatory genes. Within the bounds of the SIC-study (Selenium in Intensive Care) the authors will investigate the role of transcription factors NF-kappa B and AP-1 in S.I.R.S/septic patients. The goal of these investigations is the corroboration of therapy of septic patients with sodium selenite at the molecular biological level.
