    AbstractBecause of the close relationship between the esophagus and the aorta, multiplane transesophageal echocardiography provides an excellent way to view the thoracic aorta. In this article, clinical features of aortic aneurysm, trauma, and aortic dissection are described, as is the potential use of transesophageal echocardiography in the assessment of these entities.
