ReviewA systematic review of cervical cancer incidence and mortality in the Pacific Region.
This study provides the first systematic literature review of cervical cancer incidence and mortality as well as human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype prevalence among women with cervical cancer in the Pacific Island countries and territories. The cervical cancer burden in the Pacific Region is substantial, with age standardized incidence rates ranging from 8.2 to 50.7 and age standardized mortality rate from 2.7 to 23.9 per 100,000 women per year. The HPV genotype distribution suggests that 70-80% of these cancers could be preventable by the currently available bi- or quadrivalent HPV vaccines. There are only few comprehensive studies examining the epidemiology of cervical cancer in this region and no published data have hitherto described the current cervical cancer prevention initiatives in this region.

Clinicopathologic features predicting involvement of non- sentinel axillary lymph nodes in Iranian women with breast cancer.
Almost half of the breast cancer patients with positive sentinel lymph nodes have no additional disease in the remaining axillary lymph nodes. This group of patients do not benefit from complete axillary lymph node dissection. This study was designed to assess the clinicopathologic factors that predict non-sentinel lymph node metastasis in Iranian breast cancer patients with positive sentinel lymph nodes. ⋯ According to this study, age, primary tumor size, lymphovascular invasion, extracapsular invasion, and the ratio of positive sentinel lymph nodes to the total number of harvested sentinel lymph nodes, were found to be independent predictors of non-sentinel lymph node metastasis.

Psychological problems and psychosocial predictors of cigarette smoking behavior among undergraduate students in Malaysia.
Cigarette smokers have their own motivation and justification to smoke. For example, smoking reduces their stress or enhances their pleasure. This study aimed to identify the (a) prevalence of cigarette smokers among undergraduates in Malaysia, (b) gender differences in nicotine dependence among current smokers, (c) differences in psychological problems (depression, anxiety and stress) based on the status of smoking cigarettes (current, former and non-smokers) and (d) extent to which precipitating factors (tension reduction, addiction, automatism, handling, social interaction, pleasure, and stimulation) predict the smoking behavior among current smokers. ⋯ Hence, there is a need for health promotion and anti-tobacco prevention as cigarette smokers experience more psychological problems. Nicotine dependency or addition was one of the major causes for smoking behavior among the student population in Malaysia.

Multicenter StudyHuman papillomavirus vaccine awareness, acceptability, and decision-making factors among Chinese college students.
College students are recommended as the target groups for catch-up human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. Systematical exploration of awareness, acceptability, and decision-making factors of HPV vaccination among Chinese college students has been limited. ⋯ Although most undergraduates demonstrate positive attitudes towards HPV vaccination, challenges pertaining to introduction exist in China. Corresponding proactive education and governmental subsidy to do so are urgently needed by this age-group population. Suggestions and potential strategies indicated may help shape the future HPV vaccination program in China.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyInfluence of autologous and homologous blood transfusion on interleukins and tumor necrosis factor-α in peri-operative patients with esophageal cancer.
To explore the influence of different ways of blood transfusion on the expression levels of interleukins (IL) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) inperi-operative patients with esophageal cancer. ⋯ Decreased IL-8 and increased IL-10 levels are two important reasons forimmunosuppression after homologous blood transfusion, whereas autologous blood transfusion can alleviate this while increasing the TNF-α level, which also has potential to improve anti-tumor immunity in the human body.
