Long-term outcomes after D2 gastrectomy for early gastric cancer: survival analysis of a single-center experience in China.
Early gastric cancer (EGC) is well accepted as having a favorable prognosis, but some patients experience an ominous outcome after curative resection. This study was aimed at evaluating predictive factors associated with prognosis of D2 gastrectomies in patients with early gastric cancer. ⋯ Early gastric cancers with lymph node metastasis have a relatively poor prognosis after standard surgery. Even after curative resection, patients with EGC with positive lymph nodes should be closely followed and be considered as candidates for comprehensive therapies.

Meta AnalysisHelicobacter pylori and pancreatic cancer risk: a meta- analysis based on 2,049 cases and 2,861 controls.
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) have been considered as a risk factor for many cancers. We conducted this meta-analysis to clarify the association between H. pylori infection and the risk of pancreatic cancer. ⋯ Hp+ and CagA+ infection are associated with a decreased risk of pancreatic cancer in eastern populations but have no significant associations in western countries.

Meta AnalysisRisk of breast cancer and total malignancies in rheumatoid arthritis patients undergoing TNF-α antagonist therapy: a meta-analysis of randomized control trials.
Interest exits in whether TNF-alpha antagonists increase the risk of breast cancer and total malignancies in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ This study did not find a significantly increased risk of breast cancer and total malignancies in adults RA patients treated with TNF-α antagonists at approved doses. However, it cannot be ignored that more patients developed malignancies with TNF-α antagonists therapy compared with patients with placebo or MTX, in spite of the lack of statistical significance, so that more strict clinical trials and long-term follow-up are needed, and both mITT and PP analyses should be used in such safety analyses.

Meta AnalysisRisk of treatment-related mortality with sorafenib in patients with cancer.
Fatal adverse events (FAEs) have been reported with sorafenib, a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor kinase inhibitor (VEGFR TKI). We here performed an up-to-date and detailed meta-analysis to determine the overall risk of FAEs associated with sorafenib. ⋯ It is important for health care practitioners to be aware of the risks of FAEs associated with sorafenib, especially in patients with renal and lung cancer.

Meta AnalysisWhich is the best Chinese herb injection based on the FOLFOX regimen for gastric cancer? A network meta- analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Few studies have directly compared clinical efficacy and safety among Chinese herb injections (CHIs) for gastric cancer (GC). The present study aimed to compare CHIs combined with FOLFOX regimens for GC to show which provides the best CHIs results. ⋯ Kanglaite injection, Astragalus polysaccharides injection, Yadanziyouru injection were superior to other CHIs in clinical efficacy and safety for GC. The conclusions now need to be confirmed by large sample size direct head-to-head studies.
