Observational StudyComplications of central venous catheter insertion in a teaching hospital.
Central venous catheters are fundamental to daily clinical practice. This procedure is mainly performed by residents, often without supervision or structured training. ⋯ These results show that the rate of mechanical complications of central venous puncture in our hospital is similar to the literature, but more attention should be given to infection prevention measures.

The Brazilian HIV/AIDS management and treatment guideline (PCDT), published in 2013, recommends and standardizes the use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in all adult patients, in spite of LTCD4 count. This study aimed to analyze the first year of HAART use in patients from a reference center on HIV/AIDS management in Fortaleza, Ceará. ⋯ The main cause of initial HAART changes was adverse reaction and most patients had only one change in the HAART regimen. HAART prescription was in accordance to the PCDT from 2013.

To evaluate the influence of functional capacity (FC) and how it affects quality of life (QoL) in breast cancer survivors. ⋯ Breast cancer was associated with decreased FC, compromised QoL in women with locoregional and distant metastases compared to those without metastasis.

Analysis of the availability of the resources necessary for urgent and emergency healthcare in São Paulo between 2009-2013.
The Regulatory Complex is the structure that operationalizes actions for making resources available to meet the needs of urgent and emergency care in the municipality of São Paulo. In the case of urgent care, needs are immediate and associated with high morbidity and mortality. ⋯ There is a lack of resources to meet urgent and emergency needs in the city of São Paulo.

Factors associated with burnout syndrome in medical residents of a university hospital.
To determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome among resident physicians of various specialties and to evaluate associated factors. ⋯ The prevalence of burnout found in resident physicians is in accordance with previous Brazilian studies. Residents of surgical specialties and those who suffered some stressful event were identified as susceptible in this study. The early identification of risk factors is fundamental for the implementation of preventive measures against burnout syndrome.
