Multicenter Study Clinical TrialEffect of eradication of Helicobacter pylori in children with chronic immune thrombocytopenia: a prospective, controlled, multicenter study.
The eradication of Helicobacter pylori has been associated with remission of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in approximately half of eradicated patients. Data on children are limited to small case series. ⋯ Among the large cohort of patients, those who underwent successful H. pylori eradication showed a significantly higher PLT response. Therefore, it may be appropriate to look for H. pylori and eventually eradicate it in children with cITP.

Clinical TrialMulti-modal intervention for the inpatient management of sickle cell pain significantly decreases the rate of acute chest syndrome.
Pain in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) is the leading cause of acute care visits and hospitalizations. Pain episodes are a risk factor for the development of acute chest syndrome (ACS), contributing to morbidity and mortality in SCD. Few strategies exist to prevent this complication. ⋯ A multi-modal intervention to educate and subsequently change physician's behavior likely decreased the rate of ACS in the setting of a single teaching hospital.
