Multicenter StudySurgical Treatment of Localized-Type Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumors of Large Joints: A Study Based on a Multicenter-Pooled Database of 31 International Sarcoma Centers.
Localized-type tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) is a rare, neoplastic disease with only limited data supporting treatment protocols. We describe treatment protocols and evaluate their oncological outcome, complications, and functional results in a large multicenter cohort of patients. A secondary study aim was to identify factors associated with local recurrence after surgical treatment. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III. Reduced Revision Risk for Dual-Mobility Cup in Total Hip Replacement Due to Hip Fracture: A Matched-Pair Analysis of 9,040 Cases from the Nordic Arthroplasty Register Association (NARA).
The dual-mobility acetabular cup (DMC) has an additional bearing consisting of a mobile polyethylene component between the prosthetic head and the outer metal shell. This design has gained popularity in revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) and in primary treatment of femoral neck fractures with the anticipation of a reduced risk of THA instability. Our primary aim was to evaluate the overall revision risk of these cups on the basis of data from the Nordic Arthroplasty Register Association (NARA) database, and our secondary aim was to study specific revision causes including dislocation. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III. Randomized Controlled TrialRegional or General Anesthesia in the Surgical Treatment of Distal Radial Fractures: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Most patients undergoing surgery for the treatment of a distal radial fracture are treated in a day-surgery setting and are given either general anesthesia (GA) or regional anesthesia (RA). The main purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of the anesthesia method on patients' postoperative opioid consumption during the first 3 days following surgery. ⋯ Therapeutic Level I. Comparative StudyVirtual Mechanical Testing Based on Low-Dose Computed Tomography Scans for Tibial Fracture: A Pilot Study of Prediction of Time to Union and Comparison with Subjective Outcomes Scoring.
Quantitative outcomes assessment remains a persistent challenge in orthopaedic trauma. Although patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and radiographic assessments such as Radiographic Union Scale for Tibial Fractures (RUST) scores are frequently used, very little evidence has been presented to support their validity for measuring structural bone formation or biomechanical integrity. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV.
