To explore the relationship between Anion Gap (AG), Albumin Corrected AG (ACAG), and in-hospital mortality of Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) patients and develop a prediction model for predicting the mortality in AMI patients. ⋯ ACAG was related to in-hospital mortality among AMI patients. The authors developed a nomogram incorporating ACAG and clinical indicators, demonstrating good performance for predicting in-hospital mortality of AMI patients.

Cervical cancer, whose well-recognized etiological agent is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), is responsible for approximately 300,000 deaths worldwide, 80% of cases occurring in developing countries. In Brazil, 17,010 cases were expected, with 2,550 cases in São Paulo State, in 2023. The Papanicolaou test is the diagnostic method for the detection of precancerous lesions of the cervix, and HPV vaccination is now available for prevention. ⋯ The continuous increase in cervical cancer over the study period was probably due to the lack of adherence to the primary and secondary prevention opportunities offered by the Public Health Authorities.

The Angiographic Microvascular Resistance (AMR), derived from a solitary angiographic view, has emerged as a viable substitute for the Index of Microcirculatory Resistance (IMR). However, the prognostic significance in ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients is yet to be established. This research endeavors to explore the prognostic capabilities of AMR in patients diagnosed with STEMI. ⋯ AMR measured after PCI can predict the risk of all-cause death or readmission for heart failure in patients with STEMI. AMR-involved nomograms improved predictive performance over variables alone.

This study aims to correlate the RAPID score with the 3-month survival and surgical results of patients undergoing lung decortication with stage III pleural empyema. ⋯ In this retrospective series, the RAPID score had a good correlation with 3-month mortality in patients undergoing lung decortication. The morbidity indicators did not reach statistical significance. The present data justifies further studies to explore the capacity of the RAPID score to be used as a selection tool for treatment modality in patients with stage III pleural empyema.

This study aimed to explore the correlation between Fibroblast Growth Factor-23 (FGF23) levels and Cerebral Infarction (CI), and to determine whether there is a significant relationship between FGF23 and the occurrence and severity of CI. ⋯ This study discovered a correlation between Fibroblast Growth Factor-23 (FGF23) levels, vertebrobasilar artery stenosis, and short-term prognosis in patients who had recently experienced acute Cerebral Infarction (CI).
