Clinical trials that involve medicines are performed in order to determine their effectiveness and safety. In Argentina, these studies are presented either to National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) to obtain drug registration, or to the National Ministry of Health (MSAL) (to obtain the official recognition). This work was carried out to increase the knowledge about the clinical trials performed in Argentina. ⋯ Foreign pharmaceutical companies are the only ones that carry out clinical trials on medicines in Argentina, all of them for registration purposes. The use of placebo as a comparator is inappropriate, since each drug is expected to be validated against another of recognized efficacy already available in the market. Oncological/immunological pathologies are the ones that arouse greater interest among local researchers due to their prevalence and their greater profitability in the pharmaceutical market.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the adverse effects and immune response associated with IgG anti S1 SAEA-CoV-2 antibodies among healthcare workers at Señor del Milagro Hospital in Salta city, after receiving two doses of COVID-19 vaccine. ⋯ The AEFIs reported were mostly mild and transient. Mass vaccination and administration of the recommended dose are essential to achieve effective herd immunity. The majority of vaccinated healthcare workers developed antibodies and those who had the disease prior to vaccination had significant antibody titers.

Benign childhood myositis is a self-limiting inflammatory condition that primarily affects schoolaged boys during the winter months. It is associated with respiratory viral infections, such as influenza A and B viruses, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and Mycoplasma pneumoniae, among others. In September 2022, an epidemiological alert was raised due to a high number of reported cases in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires. ⋯ This entity should be considered in the differential diagnosis of lower limb myalgia, difficulty walking, and functional impotence. It is necessary to establish management guidelines according to the clinic and laboratory. The search for respiratory viruses, mainly influenza, should be done taking into account the local epidemiology.

The relationship between bullous pemphigoid (BP) and neoplasms has been debated in the medical literature. Although numerous case reports have described the coexistence of BP with various neoplasms, case-control studies have yielded conflicting results. We present the case of a male patient who developed BP shortly after being diagnosed with mycosis fungoides (MF). ⋯ The association between cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and autoimmune blistering disease is rare, although similar cases have been reported, some associated with phototherapy. In this case, the onset of BP after sun exposure suggests a potential connection. The coexistence of BP and MF remains controversial, and this case highlights the importance of considering autoimmune blistering diseases in patients with oncohematological neoplasms.

Acetaminophen is a commonly used analgesic and antipyretic drug, which has experienced an increase in its consumption in recent years in our environment. There has also been an increase in the number of accidental and intentional overdoses that were treated by the health system. Its toxicity is dose-dependent and can cause fulminant liver failure, becoming one of the main reasons for liver transplantation in English-speaking countries. ⋯ She developed fulminant liver failure and metabolic acidosis, for which she underwent an emergency liver transplant due to the severity of her condition, from which she evolved favorably. The decision to perform a liver transplant in serious cases like this and under a condition of severe psychiatric vulnerability is challenging and must be carefully considered. This particular case illustrates the importance of multidisciplinary care including psychiatric evaluation in patients with acetaminophen poisoning.
