ReviewClinical Applications of 3-Dimensional Printing Technology in Hip Joint.
Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a digital rapid prototyping technology based on a discrete and heap-forming principle. We identified 53 articles from PubMed by searching "Hip" and "Printing, Three-Dimensional"; 52 of the articles were published from 2015 onwards and were, therefore, initially considered and discussed. Clinical application of the 3D printing technique in the hip joint mainly includes three aspects: a 3D-printed bony 1:1 scale model, a custom prosthesis, and patient-specific instruments (PSI). ⋯ As an alternative support to intraoperative computer navigation, PSI can anchor to a specially appointed position on the patient's bone to make accurate bone cuts during surgery following a precise design preoperatively. The 3D printing technique could improve the surgeon's efficiency in the operating room, shorten operative times, and reduce exposure to radiation. Well known for its customization, 3D printing technology presents new potential for treating complex hip joint disease.

Multicenter StudyEfficiency of Zoledronic Acid in Inhibiting Accelerated Periprosthetic Bone Loss After Cementless Total Hip Arthroplasty in Osteoporotic Patients: A Prospective, Cohort Study.
To investigate the influence of preoperative osteopenia/osteoporosis on periprosthetic bone loss after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and the efficiency of zoledronate (ZOL) treatment in periprosthetic bone preservation. ⋯ Patients with osteopenia are prone to higher bone loss in the proximal femur after cementless total hip arthroplasty (THA). ZOL, not solely calcium and vitamin D, could prevent the accelerated periprosthetic bone loss after THA in patients with osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy and Safety of Tranexamic Acid in Intertrochanteric Fractures: A Single-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial.
To investigate the efficacy and safety of tranexamic acid (TXA) in the reduction of bleeding and the need for transfusion in elderly intertrochanteric fracture patients. ⋯ In intertrochanteric fracture surgery performed using PFNA, intravenous administration of TXA significantly reduced the risk of intraoperative, total and hidden blood loss, in addition to the need for allogeneic transfusion, without increasing the rate of complications.

Comparative StudyRevision Surgery after Percutaneous Endoscopic Transforaminal Discectomy Compared with Primary Open Surgery for Symptomatic Lumbar Degenerative Disease.
To evaluate the clinical outcome of reoperation after percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) as compared with primary spinal decompression and fusion. ⋯ Patients with LDD who received primary spinal decompression and fusion experienced lower rates of perioperative complications and shorter hospitalization compared with patients who underwent revision surgery after PELD, but the clinical outcomes at the last follow-up of both groups were satisfactory.
