Understanding Health-related Quality of Life in Caregivers of Civilians and Service Members/Veterans With Traumatic Brain Injury: Establishing the Reliability and Validity of PROMIS Mental Health Measures.
To provide important reliability and validity data to support the use of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) mental health measures in caregivers of civilians or service members/veterans (SMVs) with traumatic brain injury (TBI). ⋯ Results support the reliability and validity of the PROMIS anxiety, depression, and anger item banks in caregivers of civilians and SMVs with TBI. Ultimately, these measures can be used to provide a standardized assessment of HRQOL because it relates to mental health in these caregivers.

Meta AnalysisA Systematic Critical Appraisal of Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Rehabilitation of Children With Moderate or Severe Acquired Brain Injury.
The aim of this review was to critically appraise the quality of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for the rehabilitation of children with moderate or severe acquired brain injury (ABI). ⋯ Despite variability in quality of the guideline development process, the included CPGs generally provided clear descriptions of their overall objectives, scope and purpose, employed systematic methods for searching, selecting, and appraising research evidence, and produced unambiguous, clearly identifiable recommendations for children with ABI. Overall, existing CPGs focusing on rehabilitation for children with ABI are based on low-quality evidence or expert consensus. Future work should focus on addressing the limitations of most of the current CPGs, particularly related to supporting implementation and integrating stakeholder involvement.

To examine the reliability and validity of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) measures of sleep disturbance and fatigue in traumatic brain injury (TBI) caregivers and to determine the severity of fatigue and sleep disturbance in these caregivers. ⋯ Findings support the reliability and validity of the PROMIS CAT and SF measures of sleep disturbance and fatigue in caregivers of civilians and SMVs with TBI.

Examining Motor Tasks of Differing Complexity After Concussion in Adolescents.
(1) To determine the effects of concussion-related motor impairments at different task complexities in isolation and with a cognitive dual-task and (2) to determine if self-reported balance deficits after concussion are associated with gait, quiet stance, or cognitive dual-task impairments. ⋯ Following concussion, adolescents demonstrate slower gait speeds, but similar quiet stance values relative to those without concussion. The study results indicate that tasks requiring greater motor coordination may elicit greater alterations following a concussion.

Randomized Controlled TrialImmediate Effects of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation on Pain and Physical Performance in Individuals With Preradiographic Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To investigate the effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on knee pain and comprehensive physical function in preradiographic knee osteoarthritis. ⋯ Use of TENS improved the VAS score for pain and the distance walked in the 6MWT for individuals with Kellgren-Lawrence grade 0 or 1 of the knee. Thus, TENS may be effective for long-distance walking in patients with preradiographic knee osteoarthritis.
