Review Case Reports
CD4/CD8 dual-positive mycosis fungoides: A case report and literature review.
Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. It appears as patches, plaques, and tumors depending on the stage of the disease, which presents a chronic progressive course. Compared to CD4/CD8 MF, CD4/CD8 dual-positive MF is an uncommon immune phenotype. ⋯ While reviewing the literature, we found no previous reports on the treatment of dual-positive MF with Chinese medicine. In this report, we presented the first case of dual-positive MF successfully treated with Chinese medicine. The results suggest that oral ingestion of herbal medicine may be a feasible method for alleviating clinical symptoms of early stage MF. Therefore, the therapy should be explored for clinical use in the future.

The prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling of chromosomal micro-duplication on 10q24.3 in a fetus: A case report and a brief review of the literature.
Split-hand/split-foot malformation (SHFM), also known as ectrodactyly, is a congenital limb malformation affecting the central rays of the autopod extending to syndactyly, median clefts of the hands and feet, aplasia/hypoplasia of phalanges, metacarpals and metatarsals. Duplication of this 10q24 region is associated with SHFM3. While the clinical and genetic heterogeneity of SHFM makes the prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling more challenging and difficult. ⋯ This case study confirms an association between SHFM3 and chromosomal micro-duplication on 10q24.3, and the extension of clinical spectrum of SHFM3. It also proposes some prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling to help in planning and management in affected pregnancy. This will reduce the congenital and development abnormalities in birth rate, as well as relive the economic, psychological, and physical burden to the affected families.

Total hip arthroplasties (THA) and total knee arthroplasties (TKA) are always associated with a frequent incidence of postoperative pain. Effective pain management after surgery is quite essential for surgeons and patients. The purpose of the present meta-analysis is to evaluate the analgesic effect of perioperative ketamine after THA and TKA. ⋯ The present meta-analysis demonstrated perioperative ketamine could be used as a safe and effective analgesic agent for THA and TKA.

Meta Analysis
Prognostic value of octamer binding transcription factor 4 for patients with solid tumors: A meta-analysis.
Octamer binding transcription factor 4 (Oct4) is critically important in the development and progression of cancer, and is considered a potential biomarker for tumor prognosis. However, the prognostic value of Oct4 in patients with solid tumors remains elusive. Herein, we conducted a meta-analysis to assess the prognostic value of Oct4 in patients with solid tumors. ⋯ This work demonstrated that patients with solid tumors show high expression of Oct4 which is linked to worse prognosis in patients with solid tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma (OS, DFS/RFS/PFS), esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OS), gastric cancer (OS), cervical cancer (OS, DFS/RFS/PFS), and colorectal cancer (OS, DFS/RFS/PFS), this implicated Oct4 as a potential biomarker to predict the prognosis of tumors.

Comparative Study
Diagnostic value of abdominal follow-up sonography in polytrauma patients: A retrospective study.
In many German trauma centres, it is routine to perform abdominal follow-up sonography (AFS) 6 h after admission for patients with multiple trauma, even if the clinical course is uneventful and multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) reveals no abdominal pathology. However, this approach is not recommended in the German Guidelines for trauma, and recent studies have questioned the value of AFS to these patients. The present study aimed to evaluate the revised German Guidelines for trauma with respect to the omission of AFS. ⋯ This single-centre study conducted in a large German trauma centre demonstrates AFS to have no utility in the diagnosis of abdominal injury. Moreover, omission of AFS for conscious patients without clinical signs of abdominal trauma and with negative abdominal MSCT does not appear to have negative consequences in terms of missed abdominal injury. Therefore, AFS can be safely omitted in the majority of cases of polytrauma, which simplifies the imaging workup tremendously.
