Conflicting data have been reported related to the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) on outcomes after transcatheter mitral valve repair with MitraClip (MC) implantation. In this study, we assessed the prognosis of MC-treated patients according to the presence of pre-existing AF. ⋯ AF may be related with worse outcomes in patients undergoing MC implantation, including long-term mortality, major bleeding, and rehospitalization. AF should be taken into account when referring a patient for MC treatment.

Does time of day influences outcome in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients?: A meta-analysis of cohort studies.
Whether time of day has impact on outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) remains controversial. However, there are no evidence syntheses describing the impact of time differences on outcomes from OHCA. ⋯ Night-time is associated with a lower survival in OHCA patients. However, similar findings are not observed in OHCA patients on weekends. Caution is required in interpretation of these results accounting for high level of heterogeneity and large, well designed, randomized trials are warranted.

Given that evidence supporting chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection developed chance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following antiviral agents therapy is controversial. We conducted a meta-analysis to examine the risk. We evaluated 20 retrospective and prospective cohort studies published up to 31 December 2017 which investigated the association between sustained virological response (SVR) and incidence of HCC patients treated with monotherapy interferon (IFN) or IFN plus ribavirin (RBV) therapy. ⋯ Non-SVR patients had greater odds of HCC incidence compared to SVR patients in the treatment of IFN monotherapy (pooled OR = 4.135, 95% CI = 3.009 to 5.682, P < .001). Lack of SVR to IFN therapy was significantly associated with greater risk of HCC incidence (pooled OR = 5.035, 95% CI = 3.915 to 6.474, P < .001). SVR could be as a predictor of HCC in CHC patients treated with IFN or IFN plus RBV, and have important implications during HCC screening, whereby patients who fail to achieve SVR need to be screened more rigorously.

Diagnostic performance of circulating MicroRNAs in acute ischemic stroke: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.
Increasing evidences showed differential expression of circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), indicating that miRNAs might serve as promising biomakers in the diagnosis of AIS. However, their accuracy has not been systematically evaluated, so it is necessary to conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic value of miRNAs in AIS patients. ⋯ This study will clarify confusions about the specificity and sensitivity of circulating miRNAs in diagnosing AIS, which could further guide the promotion and application of them.Open Science Framework (OSF) registration number: 2020, August 19. https://osf.io/6tjf3.
