Randomized Controlled Trial
Effect of a new Lactobacillus plantarum product, LRCC5310, on clinical symptoms and virus reduction in children with rotaviral enteritis.
Rotavirus is one of the most common causes of infantile enteritis. In common enterocolitis, probiotic organisms, including Lactobacilli, are effective in treating diarrhea. A new species, Lactobacillus plantarum (LRCC5310), which was shown to inhibit the adherence and proliferation of rotavirus in the small intestine through animal experiments, was investigated for the efficacy and safety of patients with rotaviral enteritis. ⋯ LRCC5310 improved clinical symptoms, including diarrhea and Vesikari score, and inhibited viral proliferation in rotaviral gastroenteritis.

By now, the incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasing. The development of various CKD is attributed to the continuous aggravation of renal interstitial fibrosis (RIF) in the process of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Oral treatment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one of the therapies for RIF. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of TCM treatment RIF have been reported, but its effectiveness and safety have yet been systematically investigated. Therefore, through the systematic analysis and meta-analysis, our study will summarize the effectiveness and safety of oral treatment RIF of TCM, in order to provides scientific reference for clinical practice. ⋯ Some more targeted and practical results about the efficacy of taking TCM orally in RIF have been provided by our study. The available evidence suggests that the therapeutic effects of combining TCM with Western medicine therapies is much better for RIF than Western medicine therapies only.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study
Laparoscopic pancreaticodoudenectomy: An excellent approach in elderly patients, a multicenter, comparative study.
Management of malignant diseases in elderly patients has become a global clinical issue because of increased life expectancy worldwide. Advancements in surgical techniques and perioperative management have reduced age-related contraindications for LPD. Past articles have reported that elderly patients undergoing laproscopic pancreatoduodenectomy (LPD) are at an increased risk compared to younger patients. The aim of this article is to compare a multicenter center risk of LPD in elderly and nonelderly patients. ⋯ Elderly patients who underwent LPD in this study had good overall outcomes after LPD that were similar to young patients. The perioperative and long-term outcomes of LPD are not worse. Rates of ICU admission and hospital stays increased in elderly patients undergoing LPD when compared with nonelderly ones. LPD can be performed on elderly patients with similar outcomes as younger patients; therefore, age itself should not be a contraindication for LPD for pancreatic cancer, but it suggests that elderly patients with comorbidities should be more stringently selected for surgery.

Meta Analysis
The effect of varicocele repair for sperm DNA fragmentation: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.
Sperm DNA integrity has been considered as one of the important determinants of normal fertilization and embryonic development in natural and assisted pregnancy. It is difficult for men with high levels of sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) in semen to conceive their partners naturally and assist in conception. The studies have found that the level of SDF in the semen of patients with varicocele (VC) was on the high side. In recent years, the effect of VC surgery on DNA fragmentation index has attracted the attention of researchers. In this study, we will evaluate the effectiveness of VC repair as a way to alleviate SDF and improve male fertility. ⋯ INPLASY202070119.

The goal of this study was to review relevant studies in order to determine the efficacy of decompression with fusion versus decompression in the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. ⋯ Decompression with fusion has no significant clinical advantages in treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis when compared with decompression.
