Brain metastasis (BM) is a serious complication in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Pemetrexed is one of the preferred agents in nonsquamous NSCLC with BM; however, the traditional chemotherapy demonstrated limited efficacy partly due to drug resistance and the blood-brain barrier. ⋯ Pemetrexed/carboplatin plus anlotinib could be considered for the treatment of epidermal growth factor receptor wild-type, anaplastic lymphoma kinase-negative lung adenocarcinoma with BM. Further well-designed trials are warranted to verify this occasional finding.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) or combined with western medicine in the treatment of pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy has been widely used in clinical practice, but the overall efficacy and safety is still unclear. This paper aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety analysis of TCM or combined with western medicine for pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/J76AG.

Multiple randomized controlled trials have shown that acupuncture (ACU) work well in the treating mammary gland hyperplasia, which has been widely used in hospitals of China. Although the choices of ACU treatments varies in practice, most are based on experience or preference. Therefore, we outline a plan to assess and rank the efficacy of the various ACU methods to formulate a prioritized regimen for mammary gland hyperplasia in ACU therapy. ⋯ PROSPERO (registration number CRD42020158743).

The association between tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α-308G/A, -238G/A, -863C/A, -1031T/C, and -857C/T) polymorphism and either chronic (CP) or aggressive (AgP) periodontitis susceptibility was conflicting. This meta-analysis aimed to quantitatively estimate the association. A total of 52 studies involving 5519 patients and 7260 controls were identified through a search of multiple electronic databases. ⋯ There were no associations between TNF-α-238G/A, -863C/A, -1031T/C, -857C/T polymorphism and susceptibility to AgP. No associations were also found between CP susceptibility and TNF-α-238G/A, -857C/T polymorphism. These findings supported that TNF-α-308G/A polymorphism might be the protective factors of CP and AgP in Asians, and TNF-α-238G/A, -863C/A, -1031T/C, -857C/T polymorphism is not linked to AgP susceptibility.

Short-term clinical efficacy of the pulsed Nd: YAG laser therapy on chronic nonspecific low back pain: A randomized controlled study.
Chronic non-specific low back pain (LBP) is gradually increasing among populations worldwide and affects their activities. Recently, the Nd:YAG laser has been presented in the rehabilitation field. ⋯ Regarding the present study outcomes, short-term pulsed Nd:YAG laser (6 weeks) may reduce functional disabilities and pain intensity, and improve the lumbar flexion ROM in patients with chronic nonspecific LBP. Further well-designed randomized controlled studies with large sample sizes should be conducted regarding laser treatment.
