Meta Analysis
Effectiveness of electroacupuncture as a treatment for osteoporosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Osteoporosis (OP) results in an increased risk of fragility fractures, representing a major public health problem. In preventing OP, complementary and alternative medicine, such as acupuncture, was recommended because of the low efficiency and side effects of medications. Recently, there is insufficient evidence on electroacupuncture as an effective therapy for OP management. Hence, we evaluated the effectiveness of electroacupuncture for OP treatment. ⋯ The application of electroacupuncture as an independent therapy or as an adjunct to other treatments might attenuate OP-related pain and serum beta-CTX levels. However, to overcome the methodological shortcomings of the existing evidence, due to a small size of samples and high risk of bias in these included RCTs, further rigorous studies are required.

Impact of surgical margin on survival in extremity soft tissue sarcoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The impact of surgical margin status on the survival of patients with extremity soft tissue sarcoma (STS) remains to be clearly defined. The evidence regarding the impact of surgical margins on survival is limited by retrospective single-institution cohort studies. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the impact of surgical margin status on patient survival in extremity STS. ⋯ This meta-analysis supports the hypothesis that adequate surgical margins are associated with improved survival in extremity STS.

Graded motor imagery training as a home exercise program for upper limb motor function in patients with chronic stroke: A randomized controlled trial.
Although several types of occupational therapy for motor recovery of the upper limb in patients with chronic stroke have been investigated, most treatments are performed in a hospital or clinic setting. We investigated the effect of graded motor imagery (GMI) training, as a home exercise program, on upper limb motor recovery and activities of daily living (ADL) in patients with stroke. ⋯ The GMI program may be useful for improving upper extremity function as an adjunct to conventional rehabilitation for patients with chronic stroke.

Was femoral nerve block effective for pain control of medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy?: A single blinded randomized controlled study.
Medial compartment femoro-tibial osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease and opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) is the common surgical procedure carried out for these patients. While most researchers are focusing on the surgical techniques during operation, the aim of this study is to evaluate the pain control effect of femoral nerve block (FNB) for OWHTO patients. ⋯ This RCT study shows that FNB in patients undergoing OWHTO for unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee could result in significant reduction in VAS scores at 12 hours postoperatively.Research registry, Researchregistry4792.
