Compassion fatigue is defined as a detrimental consequence of experiencing work-related stress among nurses, which can affect the job performance and harm emotional and physical health. The high risk of compassion fatigue among nurses may be even more severe in China. Although several studies have explored the prevalence and factors of compassion fatigue among Chinese nurses, most data derived merely from the specialty units of the hospital or limited samples, and there is a large heterogeneity among studies. Thus, it is indispensable to systematically summarize the risk factors and prevalence of compassion fatigue among clinical nurse in China. ⋯ The registration DOI is 10.17605/OSF.IO/V34X6.

Computed tomography-guided cutting needle biopsy for lung nodules: A comparative study between low-dose and standard dose protocols.
We aim to compare the diagnostic accuracy, safety, and radiation exposure between low-dose and standard-dose computed tomography (CT)-guided cutting needle biopsy (CNB) for lung nodules. From January 2016 to August 2017, all consecutive patients admitted with lung nodule underwent low-dose or standard-dose CT-guided CNB procedure in our center. Diagnostic accuracy and radiation dose were compared. ⋯ The mean effective dose was 0.5 ± 0.2 mSv and 5.3 ± 1.6 mSv in the low-dose and standard-dose groups, respectively (P < .001). Low-dose CT-guided CNB of lung nodules significantly decreased radiation dose compared with standard-dose CT. The low-dose protocol could provide similar diagnostic accuracy and safety as standard-dose CT-guided CNB for lung nodules.

Conventional white-light imaging endoscopy (C-WLI) had a significant number of misdiagnosis in early gastric cancer (EGC), and magnifying endoscopy (ME) combined with different optical imaging was more accurate in the diagnosis of EGC. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of ME and compare the accuracy of ME with different optical imaging in detecting EGC. ⋯ ME was effective in improving the detecting rate of EGC, especially with NBI or BLI.

To date, no effective biological markers have been identified for predicting the prognosis of esophageal cancer patients. Recent studies have shown that eosinophils are independent prognostic factors in some cancers. This study aimed to identify the prognostic impact of eosinophils in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). ⋯ The PFS and OS in patients with high blood eosinophil count before CCRT (>2%) was better than those with low blood eosinophil count(<2%) (P = .006 and P = .001, respectively). Additionally, the multivariate analysis revealed that disease stage and high eosinophil infiltration, increased peripheral blood absolute eosinophil count after CCRT, and high peripheral blood eosinophil count before CCRT were independent prognostic indicators. High eosinophil count of tumor site, increased peripheral blood absolute eosinophil count after CCRT, and high peripheral blood eosinophil count before CCRT are favorable prognostic factors for patients with ESCC treated with CCRT.

Association of myostatin, a cytokine released by muscle, with inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis: A cross-sectional study.
Myostatin is a cytokine produced and released by myocytes that might have an outstanding role not only in muscle wasting during cachexia but also in inflammation. Herein we explore the association between myostatin levels and inflammatory parameters in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). One hundred twenty-seven women without rheumatic diseases and 84 women with a diagnosis of RA were assessed in a cross-sectional study. ⋯ Myostatin significantly positively correlated with C-reactive protein (rho = 0.48, P < .001), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (rho = 0.28, P = .009), and DAS28-ESR (rho = 0.22, P = .04), and negatively correlated with SMI (rho = -0.29, P = .008), (FFMI) (rho = -0.24, P = .027). In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, levels of myostatin remained associated with disease activity in RA (P = .027). In our study, myostatin was associated with disease activity in RA patients, suggesting a mechanistic link between myostatin, muscle wasting and inflammation in RA.
