Comparative Study Observational Study
Plasma rich in growth factors versus Mitomycin C in photorefractive keratectomy.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) in photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) versus Mitomycin C (MMC). This is a comparative, longitudinal and retrospective case-control study (MMC vs PRGF), in patients with a spherical correction from -0.25 to -8.00 D and cylinder correction from -0.25 to -3.00. The uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), refractive efficacy and safety indices, and changes in endothelial cell density were evaluated. ⋯ Hyperemia, eye pain and superficial keratitis were observed in 11.1% of the MMC group; no adverse events were observed with the PRGF. The use of PRGF in PRK surgery is as effective as MMC. The PRGF shows a better safety profile than MMC for its intraoperative use in PRK.

Proliferative vitreous retinopathy (PVR) is characterized by proliferation of cells and contraction of membranes on either the retinal surface or in the vitreous cavity, which leads to retinal detachment and visual impairment. PVR is commonly seen in patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and diabetic retinopathy, which seriously affects the patient's work and life. Previous studies indicated that Hirudo (Leech) or compound prescription containing Hirudo (Leech) for treatment of PVR would be effective. However, due to the lack of evidence, there are no specific methods or suggestions, so it is necessary to carry out systematic evaluations on Hirudo (Leech) for PVR and provide effective evidence for further research. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/FP7VG (https://osf.io/fp7vg).

Observational Study
Community ambulation in people with lower limb amputation: An observational cohort study.
Lower limb amputation (LLA) is still a health issue requiring rehabilitation and long-term care even in industrial societies. Several studies on subjects with LLA have been focused on the efficacy of rehabilitation and factors influencing the use of prosthesis. However, literature data on the recovery of ability to walk outdoors, and thus to participate in social life in this population is limited. ⋯ Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis confirmed that the prosthesis use (P < .001) and TT amputation level (P = .042) are predictors of a positive outcome (Walking Handicap Scale 4-6). These findings highlight the importance of the use of prosthesis in people with LLA for the restoration of a good capacity of participation (CA), especially in subjects with TT amputation level. The identification of predictive factors may help tailor-made rehabilitation approaches addressing an earlier reintegration to social life.

Case Reports
Simultaneous ipsilateral distal radius and radial head fractures: Two case reports of radius bipolar fracture.
Distal radius fracture with simultaneous ipsilateral radial head fracture is a very rare pattern of injury. This type of injury is referred to as 'radius bipolar fracture'. Treatments for this injury pattern can be challenging because both the wrist and elbow need to be considered. There are currently no guidelines for the treatment of this specific type of injury. We report two cases of this unusual pattern of injury treated in our hospital. ⋯ After this type of injury, the radius length can be changed, and as a result, ulnar variance can be affected. When radial head replaced is considered, it would be better to operate on the wrist first, and then perform radial head replacement. In this way, radiocapitellar overstuffing or instability can be prevented. However, if ORIF is planned for proximal radius fracture, either the proximal or distal radius can be fixed first. Surgeons should try to preserve radial length during treatment to optimize patient outcomes.
