Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, which seriously affect peoples quality of life and threaten people's health. Precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC) are a critical stage in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer. Early effective intervention is an important means to prevent and control gastric cancer. In this study, we will evaluate the efficacy and safety of complementary and alternative therapies in the treatment of PLGC by Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA). ⋯ INPLASY2020120077.

The prevalence of ectopic thyroid is extremely low, with the condition observed in approximately 1 in 100,000 to 300,000 people. Thyroid gland ectopia develops as a result of the presence of developmental abnormalities during the migration of the thyroid anlage from the floor of the primitive foregut to its final position in the neck. Ectopic thyroid tissue is commonly observed in the lingual region, but can also present in other head and neck regions, as well as regions located at a large distance from the neck. ⋯ Clinically, ectopic goiter is diagnosed through radionuclide thyroid imaging, ultrasound examination, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and biopsy pathology. However, the imaging manifestations in this case were atypical, leading to greater diagnostic difficulties. A conclusion was finally reached based on pathology.

Uterine arteriovenous malformation (UVM), which can be congenital or acquired, is a relatively rare disorder that can cause life-threatening hemorrhage. Acquired UVM occurs predominantly after previous uterine procedures; rarely, it may occur after a hysterectomy. Although the best treatment option for UVM remains controversial, transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) has recently been introduced as a safe and effective treatment. ⋯ Although the overall incidence of acquired UVM after hysterectomy is low, bleeding from acquired UVM should be considered as one of the differential diagnoses in the immediate postpartum period, especially when the clinical symptoms do not correlate with the amount of blood loss. A high index of suspicion, prompt diagnosis and intervention, and a multidisciplinary approach in the management were the elements of a successful outcome in this case.

Biliary cysts (BC) are rare dilatations of various parts of a biliary tract. They account for approximately 1% of all benign biliary diseases. Total cyst excision and Roux-Y hepaticojejunostomy is the treatment method of choice in most patients. In this paper, a novel surgical treatment with the use of internal biliary and pancreatic catheters was presented. ⋯ Diagnosis of the abdominal cyst should be very precise in order to avoid misdiagnosis and inadequate management. The early diagnosis and proper treatment of BC are needed in order to avoid serious complications. The cholangiocarcinoma is the most dangerous potential complication of BC due to dysplasia within the cyst wall as in our young female patient.

In the theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), except for the balanced constitution, other constitutions are unbalanced and may lead to susceptibility to certain diseases. This study made the first efforts to explore the relationship between TCM constitutions and the dry eye condition. This cross-sectional study collected information from 2760 subjects aged 30 to 70 years who had participated in a questionnaire survey conducted by Taiwan Biobank (TWB) in 2012 to 2017. ⋯ These results confirm a high correlation of TCM constitution with dry eye. Considering that the current treatment outcome is not fully satisfactory to the patients with dry eyes, integration of TCM and Western medicine may be an alternative treatment option. Individualized treatments and lifestyle recommended should be provided to patients with different TCM constitutions to alleviate dry eye symptoms.
