Few studies have reported the correlation between serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and neonatal pneumonia. The purpose of the present meta-analysis was to clarify whether an increased serum level of CRP accelerates the development of neonatal pneumonia. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/RGBMX.

Maternal obesity and excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) are associated with pregnancy-related complications, poor birth outcomes, and increased birth weight (BW). The aims of this study were to assess the relationship between excessive GWG and gestational inflammatory status in terms of blood parameters, as well as its influence on newborn's outcomes. We performed a prospective study on 176 pregnant women divided into 2 groups depending on the GWG: group 1-normal GWG, 80 cases; and group 2-high GWG, 96 cases. ⋯ Our findings sustain the hypothesis that maternal obesity is a risk factor for macrosomia and childhood obesity since we found a positive correlation between GWG and BW. Women with high GWG expressed significantly higher levels of platelets and triglycerides suggesting a subclinical inflammation associated to excessive fat accumulation. The inflammation transfer from mother to fetus in our study was suggested by the positive correlations between maternal and neonatal leukocytes and platelets/lymphocytes ratio.

Strategies and criteria targeting the reform and development for the teaching resource of nursing undergraduate: A multi-center cross-sectional study.
Teaching resource of nursing students play an important role in improving clinical performance, while there is a little know and dearth of the access and development criteria or guidance of teaching resources for nursing undergraduates. To develop the admission and development criteria of education resources for nursing undergraduates, and to explore and determine its composition and connotation. A cross-sectional survey has been used. ⋯ There were 6 domains and 43 items included in the admission and development criteria of teaching resource for nursing undergraduates, which domains included educational budget and allocation of resources, infrastructure, clinical teaching bases, books and information services, educational experts, and educational exchanges. The experts' consensus rate was more than 90.2%. The standard is helpful to guide the future admission and development of teaching resource for nursing undergraduates, and favor the education quality improvement of nursing undergraduates.

Case Reports
Spontaneous rupture of a renal artery pseudoaneurysm in a hemodialysis patient: A case report.
Renal artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare vascular lesion usually caused by trauma or percutaneous urological procedures. Spontaneous rupture of pseudoaneurysms without predisposing events, especially in hemodialysis patients, has rarely been reported. ⋯ When maintenance dialysis patients complain of severe abdominal pain, spontaneous rupture of a renal pseudoaneurysm should be considered as a differential diagnosis, even if the patient has no history of trauma or previous urological procedures.

Comparative Study Observational Study
Wound complications after primary and repeated midline, transverse and modified Makuuchi incision: A single-center experience in 696 patients.
There are 3 main types of incisions in major open, elective abdominal surgery: the midline incision (MI), the transverse incision (TI) and the modified Makuuchi incision (MMI). This study aimed to compare these approaches regarding wound complications and hernias, with a special focus on suture material and previous laparotomies. Patients who underwent elective abdominal surgery between 2015 and 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. ⋯ In comparing the 3 most common types of abdominal incisions and ignoring the type of operative procedure performed, TI seems to be the least complicated approach. However, because the incidence of fascial dehiscence and incisional hernia is not relevantly increased, the stability of the abdominal wall is apparently not affected by relaparotomy, even by repeated MIs, TIs, and MMIs. Therefore, the type of laparotomy, especially a relaparotomy, can be chosen based on the surgeon's preference and planned procedure without worrying about increased wound complications.
