Observational Study
Effects of overactive bladder syndrome on female sexual function.
This study was to evaluate the impact of the symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome on female sexual function. Seventy nine patients with OAB (OAB group) and 79 healthy women (control group) underwent physical examination at our center, and had their sexual function evaluated using the female sexual function index (FSFI). In accordance with the presence or absence of urge incontinence, the OAB group was further divided into the wet and dry groups. ⋯ Women with OAB syndrome have poorer sexual function than healthy women. Patients with more serious OAB experience more disturbing sexual dysfunction. Female sexual function scores were significantly improved after OAB pharmacotherapy.

Transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) is an emerging technique in the area of minimally invasive surgery. Vaginal leiomyoma is a rare benign tumor, with only a few cases being reported in the literature. we demonstrate a novel approach for excision of a vaginal leiomyoma via vNOTES. To ensure reproducibility and replicability akin to a standardized procedure, we have provided a step-by-step video description of the use of vNOTES for upper anterior vaginal myomectomy. ⋯ vNOTES can be a promising alternative to traditional vaginal surgery for upper vaginal disease due to advantages such as excellent exposure, easy access and precise suturing. However, more studies are needed to assess its long-term efficacy.

Appendicitis is a common intra-abdominal inflammatory disease, and morbidity increases with age when perforation occurs. Because, not all patients require emergency surgery, there have been numerous studies on factors for predicting perforated appendicitis. In this study, we aimed to confirm whether the delta neutrophil index (DNI) and the time from symptom onset to surgery are effective predictors for perforated appendicitis in different age groups. ⋯ In addition, the cutoff values have been determined and perforation occurred significantly in the group with a DNI value of 2.1 or higher and a symptomatic time of 33 hours or longer. DNI is effective in predicting perforation in patients with appendicitis compared with other inflammatory factors. Furthermore, the simultaneous measurement of symptomatic time and DNI is helpful in predicting perforation and determining whether emergency surgery is necessary.

Previous meta-analyses have examined the clinical efficacy and acceptability of deep brain stimulation (DBS) compared with sham therapy or paired active therapy. However, the absence of head-to-head clinical trials with some treatment comparisons creates uncertainty for decision makers. Thus, to provide new evidence-based medical evidence for clinical treatment, we undertook a meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of DBS in patients with depression based on high-quality randomized controlled studies. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/Q5B3S.

Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Comparative efficacy and acceptability of psychotropic drugs for functional dyspepsia in adults: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Psychotropic drugs are frequently used for functional dyspepsia (FD); however, the efficacy of these drugs for treating FD remains controversial. We aimed to comprehensively compare the relative efficacies of different psychotropic drugs for FD in adults. To conduct this study, we searched the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases on March 10, 2019, and conducted a frequentist network meta-analysis on the search results. ⋯ In terms of acceptability, escitalopram (0.32, 0.11 to 0.92) was ranked as the worst drug (12.6%), followed by imipramine and sertraline. The present network meta-analysis suggests that F + M, tandospirone, imipramine, and amitriptyline are more effective than placebo as treatment for FD. Our results indicate that among the ten psychotropic drugs included, F + M is likely to be the most effective drug for alleviating dyspepsia symptoms.
