Transarterial chemoembolization plus sorafenib versus sorafenib for intermediate-advanced hepatocellular carcinoma: A meta-analysis comparing clinical outcomes.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ranks as the sixth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, local and systemic therapies are beneficial for those who have more advanced disease or are not suitable for radical treatment. We aim to investigate the clinical outcomes of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) plus sorafenib compared with sorafenib monotherapy for intermediate-advanced HCC. ⋯ Although the TACE + sorafenib group had a higher elevated ALT, the combination of TACE + sorafenib had an OS benefit compared with sorafenib in the treatment of intermediate-advanced HCC. Further research is necessary to affirm this finding and clarify whether certain subgroups benefit from different combinations between TACE and sorafenib.

Elevated homocysteine levels in patients with heart failure: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Elevated homocysteine (Hcy) levels showed increasing significance as the predisposing factor for the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic sequelae, including cardiovascular mortality, coronary artery disease, and stroke. There is increasing evidence linking plasma Hcy levels and heart failure (HF). The association between the elevated level of plasma Hcy and HF was examined by meta-analysis and systematic review in this study. ⋯ Our meta-analysis identified that plasma Hcy levels were significantly elevated in HF patients compared to control subjects, which is positively related to the advancement of NYHA class.

The incidence rate of herpes zoster in inflammatory bowel disease: A meta-analysis of cohort studies.
Inflammatory bowel disease is associated with an increased risk of opportunistic infections. This study aimed to investigate the incidence rate of herpes zoster in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. A meta-analysis was conducted by searching PubMed literature published from January 2000 to July 2019. ⋯ Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis were associated with an increased risk of developing herpes zoster (IRR = 1.67, 95% CI = 1.40-1.98 for Crohn disease and IRR = 1.49, 95% CI = 1.34-1.65 for ulcerative colitis, respectively). Patients with inflammatory bowel disease are at increased risk of developing herpes zoster. We suggest that the vaccination should be considered at the time of inflammatory bowel disease being diagnosed.

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical efficacy of robotic right colectomy (RRC) and laparoscopic right colectomy (LRC) in the treatment of right colon tumor. ⋯ RRC is equivalent to LRC with respect to first flatus passage, hospital length of stay, reoperation, complication, and results in less conversion to LRC.

Traditional Chinese medicine for acute coronary syndrome: A meta-analysis of clinical manifestations and objective indicators.
Modern clinical trials and experimental researches of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) have been conducted for decades and provided support for the prevention and treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However the level of evidence and the proper application of TCM were still barely satisfactory. ⋯ TCM treatment is beneficial to different courses of ACS. To acquire more solid and comprehensive evidence of TCM in treating ACS, more rigorously designed randomized controlled trials with longer follow-up duration are warranted.
