To estimate National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) grading of stroke patients with retinal characteristics. A cross-sectional study was conducted in Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Baseline information and retinal photos were collected within 2 weeks of admission. ⋯ The bifurcation coefficient of the arteriole of the left eyes had an OR of 2.931 (95% CI 1.573-5.46, P = .001), the nipping of the right eyes had an OR of 0.092 (P = .003) showed statistical significance in the model. The area under receiver-operating characteristic curve increased from 0.673, based on the model with clinical characteristics alone, to 0.896 for the model with retinal characteristics alone and increased to 0.931 for the model with both clinical and retinal characteristics combined. Retinal characteristics provided more information than clinical characteristics in estimating NIHSS grading and can provide us with an objective method for stroke severity estimation.

Simple bone cysts (SBCs) occur most frequently in the proximal aspect of the humerus and femur in growing age and are associated with intercurrent pathological fractures in up to 87%. Therapeutic management of SBCs remains controversial. The aim of this study was to examine the outcome of conservative and various surgical treatment modalities considering the specific anatomic location and integrity of the SBC. ⋯ However, if a fracture is completely dislocated, joint affecting, unstable or open, surgical treatment is necessary. Load-dependent pain or the inability to mobilize timely after fracture can necessitate surgical treatment in SBCs affecting the lower extremity. Spontaneous resolution, especially after fracture, can be seen in rare cases.

Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) can improve clinical indicators in patients with cardiovascular diseases. The literature reports a 20% reduction in all-cause mortality and a 27% reduction in heart-disease mortality following CR. Although its clinical efficacy has been established, there is uncertainty whether center-based (CBCR) is more effective than home-based (HBCR) programs in acute and subacute phases. ⋯ The time effect of CPX test and laboratory data showed improvement in cardiopulmonary function and serum indicators for both groups. VO2/kg, metabolic equivalents, and EF were among the variables that showed significant differences between groups. In the acute and subacute phases of 1 to 6 months, the CBCR group showed a greater cardiac output improvement than the HBCR group.

Osteoarthritis (OA) seriously affects human health and brings a heavy social burden. This study aimed to identify new biomarkers involved in OA. Differential expression analysis and gene set enrichment analysis were performed on the microarray data set of OA. ⋯ A total of 8 kinds of cells including B cells memory, Plasma cells, T cells CD4 memory resting, T cells gamma delta, natural killer cells activated, macrophages M0, Mast cells resting and Mast cells activated have significant differences in infiltration between the OA group and the control group. Besides, the expressions of IGLC1 and IGLV1-44 are highly correlated. Our results indicated that IGLC1 and IGLV1-44 may play the role of immune-related biomarkers in OA.

The influencing factors of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients remain unclear, we aimed to investigate the risk factors of GDM in patients with PCOS, to provide reliable evidence for the prevention and treatment of GDM in PCOS patients. PCOS patients treated in our hospital from January 1, 2019 to October 31, 2020 were included. The personal and clinical treatment details of GDM and no GDM patients were analyzed. ⋯ The incidence of preeclampsia, premature delivery, premature rupture of membranes, polyhydramnios, and postpartum hemorrhage in the GDM group was significantly higher than that of the no-GDM group (all P < .05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of oligohydramnios between the 2 groups (P = .057). The incidence of GDM in PCOS patients is high, and the measures targeted at the risk factors are needed to reduce the occurrence of GDM in patients with PCOS.
