Partial response of donafenib as the third-line therapy in metastatic colon cancer: A case report.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a digestive tumor with high morbidity and mortality rates. After second-line treatment failure, third-line treatment options are limited, and the objective response rate is low. These patients are expected to have a short survival time. Therefore, it is very important to explore safer and more effective treatment options for patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Donafenib is a new type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor developed independently in China. Its effectiveness and safety as a first-line treatment for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma in China have been verified. ⋯ This case report provides clinicians with a safe and effective option for donafenib as a later-line treatment option for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer to improve their overall survival and quality of life.

It is necessary to elucidate the potential risk factors of pulmonary infection to provide references for the management of breast cancer. Our study was a retrospective design, patients who underwent modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer in our department of breast surgery from January 2019 to November 2020 were included. The personal and clinical data of included patients with and without pulmonary infection were compared. ⋯ Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae are the most commonly seen bacteria. The incidence of postoperative pulmonary infections in breast cancer patients is high, and there are many associated risk factors. The perioperative management of patients should be strengthened targeted on those risk factors in clinical practice.

The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC) predicts the risk of malignancy for the different categories of the ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). The objective of this study is to investigate the efficiencies of the v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1 (BRAF) V600E mutation test and the TBSRTC categories in distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid nodules. ⋯ In summary, significant differences in age, nodule diameter, and BRAF V600E mutation were noted among the six categories of the TBSRTC system. The combination of the BRAF V600E mutation test and TBSRTC system demonstrated increases in the NPV, sensitivity, and accuracy, while the BRAF V600E method proved superiority to the TBSRTC system with regard to the PPV and specificity.

Solitary bone plasmacytoma (SBP) is a rare manifestation of plasma cell tumor. Although axial skeleton is the most frequently affected site of SBP, adjacent disc space involvement is rare. Herein we report a case of SBP in thoracic vertebra with involvement of adjacent disc space. ⋯ SBP lacks typical clinical symptoms, and the accurate diagnosis before clinical intervention remains challenging. Due to the disc involvement, SBP often manifests as spinal infection. Hence, differential diagnosis in spinal lesions involving the disc should include SBP.

Guiqi huoxue capsule (GQHXC) is a patented Chinese medicine used for treating a liver and kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome due to qi deficiency. It is caused by cervical spondylosis (cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR), mixed cervical spondylosis mainly composed of nerve root type). Its underlying mechanisms need, however, to be further clarified. ⋯ Our study preliminarily explained the underlying mechanisms of GQHXC for treating CSR, and molecular docking verification was adopted as an additional verification. These findings laid a valuable foundation for experimental research and further application of GQHXC in the clinical treatment of CSR.
