This is an updated meta-analysis comparing the postoperative complications observed with robotic versus laparoscopic surgery (LS) for the treatment of rectal cancer. ⋯ In this updated meta-analysis, both robotic and laparoscopic surgeries were equally effective for the treatment of rectal cancer. Similar postoperative complications were observed. However, our analysis was restricted only to postoperative outcomes, parameters such as duration of surgery were not taken into consideration.

Plexiform fibromyxoma (PF) is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm which can be misdiagnosed as the gastrointestinal stromal tumor. This tumor almost formed a lobulated intramural/submucosal mass in the gastric antrum and prepyloric area. It was considered as a benign tumor that exhibited no recurrence, metastasis, or tumor-related mortality. ⋯ The first case partially showed staggered growth pattern of PF and adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemically, the spindle cells were diffusely immunoreactive for SMA and vimentin, and focally immunoreactive for CD10. It was important to distinguish the PF from other spindle cell tumors involving the stomach.

Long non-coding RNA SNHG16 as a potential biomarker in hepatocellular carcinoma: A meta-analysis.
Small nucleolar RNA host gene 16 (SNHG16) has recently been reported as a potential biomarker in various cancers. However, the prognostic value of SNHG16 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been investigated yet. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to reveal the association between SNHG16 expression and clinicopathological characteristics of HCC. ⋯ The high expression of SNHG16 indicated worse overall survival (hazard ratio, 2.10; 95% CI, 1.22-3.60; P = .007) and disease-free survival (hazard ratio, 3.38; 95% CI, 1.10-10.40; P = .03). Additionally, the high expression of SNHG16 predicted a larger tumor size, metastasis, and advanced TNM stage. SNHG16 could serve as a potential biomarker of poor prognosis in HCC.

Congenital cytomegalovirus infection and the risk of hearing loss in childhood: A PRISMA-compliant meta-analysis.
Congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection is the most common cause of childhood hearing loss (HL), although the strength of this association remains limited and inconclusive. Thus, the purpose of this study was to summarize evidence regarding the strength of the relationship between cCMV and childhood HL and to determine whether this relationship differs according to patient characteristics. ⋯ The study results suggest that cCMV infection increases the risk of HL. Further studies are required to investigate the association of cCMV infection with the risk of specific subtypes of HL.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread worldwide. X-ray and computed tomography (CT) are 2 technologies widely used in image acquisition, segmentation, diagnosis, and evaluation. ⋯ The medical assistant platform based on machine learning can help radiologists make clinical decisions and helper in screening, diagnosis, and treatment. By providing scientific methods for image recognition, segmentation, and evaluation, we summarized the latest developments in the application of artificial intelligence in COVID-19 lung imaging, and provided guidance and inspiration to researchers and doctors who are fighting the COVID-19 virus.
