A fertility-sparing surgery in lymphoepithelioma-like carcinomas of the uterine cervix: A case report.
A poorly differentiated lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) of the cervix is an extremely rare presentation. We herein present an unusual case of LELC of the cervix, which was treated with radical trachelectomy for fertility preservation. ⋯ Based on this case, we highly recommend that operators should consider a deeper resection margin range than that visible on magnetic resonance imaging. More attention is needed to better understand the treatment method for LELC of the cervix. We also plan to closely monitor the patient's prognosis and fertility, and to conduct additional studies.

Herbal medicine and acupuncture relieved progressive bulbar palsy for more than 3 years: A case report.
Progressive bulbar palsy (PBP) is a type of motor neuron disease (MND). The main symptoms include dysarthria, dysphagia, tongue muscle atrophy and fasciculations. This disease is generally severe and develops rapidly. Due to the lack of effective treatment, many patients with MND in China turn to traditional Chinese medicine treatment for help. We successfully relieved dysphagia and sialorrhea in a patient with PBP for 3 years with herbal medicine and acupuncture. ⋯ Our case suggests that alternative therapies such as herbal medicine and acupuncture may be effective in alleviating the symptoms of MND/PBP. However, standardized clinical studies are still required to verify the effectiveness and safety.

This study aims to investigate the current situation of pelvic floor muscle (PFM) in the second trimester postpartum 42 days by detecting the electrophysiological indexes of PFM on pelvic floor rehabilitation after 2 months. ⋯ In the short term, the effect of biofeedback plus electrical stimulation on the PFM function in second pregnant women was better than that of the Kegel exercise, but with time, there was no significant difference between the 2 training methods on the recovery of the PFM.

Lyme disease is a tick-borne disease caused by the spirochete B. burgdorferi, and patients often present with symptoms comparable to a viral-like illness. The diagnosis can be challenging given its wide range of manifestations and diagnostic testing can take days or longer. Here, we present a case of Lyme disease presenting as brachial plexopathy and meningitis. ⋯ Incidence of Lyme disease is increasing in North America, and the disease has a wide range of symptoms. Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) is 1 presentation and can present with early or late manifestations; clinicians should maintain a high index of suspicion and begin empiric treatment in individuals with a clinical syndrome consistent with LNB. Early LNB manifestations have onset within 6 months of infection and include cranial and peripheral neuropathy, radiculitis, and aseptic meningitis; late LNB encompasses a chronic encephalomyelitis.

Postoperative pain after open thoracotomy is known to be very severe and affects sleep quality. This study aimed to investigate the effects of a programmed intermittent epidural bolus injection versus continuous epidural injection for controlling nighttime pain and improving sleep quality after thoracotomy. ⋯ The programmed intermittent epidural bolus technique of patient-controlled epidural analgesia reduces postoperative nighttime pain and improves sleep quality in patients undergoing thoracotomy for lung cancer or other lung diseases.
