The efficacy of combined therapy of qingfeiPaidu capsule and lianhuaqingwen capsule nursing interventions for hospitalized patients with COVID-19: A retrospective study of medical records.
Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) caused a global pandemic burden, affecting hundreds of thousands of individuals, having life-threatening outcomes. Traditional Chinese Medicine plays a crucial role in the treatment of patients with COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of combined therapy of qingfeiPaidu (QFPD) capsule and lianhuaqingwen (LHQW) capsule nursing interventions in the treatment of patients with COVID-19. ⋯ All patients met the discharge criteria after 30-day treatment in 3 groups. Combined therapy of QFPD and LHQW demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory effects compared with those of only QFPD or LHQW in patients with mild and moderate COVID-19. The combined therapies may alleviate clinical symptoms of COVID-19 patients by improving inflammation and immune function.

A novel rapid spreading and changing virus called SARS-CoV-2 appeared in Wuhan city in December 2019. It was announced by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a pandemic disease in March 2020. It commonly presents with respiratory symptoms; however, it may be asymptomatic. ⋯ Understanding and categorizing the hyponatremia in these patients will lead to better treatment and correction of the hyponatremia. A review of the literature between December 2019 and March 2022 was conducted searching for the possible reported mechanism(s) of hyponatremia in SARS-CoV-2. Although SIADH is the commonly reported cause of hyponatremia in SARS-CoV-2 infection, other causes such as diarrhea, vomiting, and kidney salt loss must be considered before SIADH.

The effect of electromagnetic field on sleep of patients with nocturia.
Accumulated studies revealed that electromagnetic field can affect human brain and sleep. We explored the effectiveness of electromagnetic field [Schumann resonance (SR)] on nocturia symptoms, quality of life, and sleep in patients with nocturia. ⋯ Our study revealed that electromagnetic field (SR) as an add-on can improve not only sleep and quality of life but also nocturia symptoms in patients with nocturia. These findings suggest that SR can be effective for sleep disturbance secondary to physical disease, which can be a new application of the electromagnetic field.

Patients with Parkinson disease (PD) treated with levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) have higher prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia and peripheral nerves damage. ⋯ Our study indicates potential of tolcapone add-on therapy in LCIG treated patients in control of homocysteine levels, and improvement of polyneuropathic symptoms, as well as QoL.

Numerous small-molecule inhibitors (SMIs) have been approved as adjuvant or first-line therapies for malignancies. Based on cancer treatment using SMIs, next-generation SMIs that can be used to optimize the therapeutic index, overcome drug resistance, and establish combination therapies are in development. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common chronic joint disease with senescence, and there are various approaches to OA treatment; however, the gold standard treatment is controversial. Therefore, in this manuscript, we demonstrated the potential of using SMIs in OA treatment and described the general strategies for using SMIs in OA treatment.
