Colon cancer is a common digestive tract tumor. Although many gene prognostic indicators have been used to predict the prognosis of colon cancer patients, the accuracy of these prognostic indicators is still uncertain. Thus, it is necessary to construct a model for the prognostic analysis of colon cancer. ⋯ The patients were divided into a high-risk group and a low-risk group according to the cutoff point. Then, the DEirlncRNAP model was verified using patient survival times, clinicopathological features, tumor-infiltrating immune cells, chemotherapy responses, and immunosuppressive biomarkers. A new DEirlncRNAP model for predicting the prognosis of colon cancer patients was established, which could reveal new insights into the relationships of colon cancer with tumor-infiltrating immune cells and antitumor immunotherapy.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the primary malignant bone tumor that most commonly affects children, adolescents, and young adults. MicroRNA-34a (miR-34a) is involved in tumor metastasis and may be a prognostic marker for patients with cancer. The aim of the present study was to explore the role of miR-34a in patients with OS. The underlying associations between miR-34a expressions and metastasis, recurrence as well as and prognosis were comprehensively analyzed in OS patients. ⋯ The expression level of serum miR-34a in patients with OS is closely related to the chemotherapy resistance, metastasis, recurrence, and survival of osteosarcoma, which can be used as one of the potential biomarkers and prognosis for the treatment of OS patients. Therefore, miR-34a may be a potential molecular for prediction of the efficacy of chemotherapy and prognosis in OS patients.

This study aimed to analyze the changes in brain networks functional connectivity of pilots exposed to simulated hypoxia using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). A total of 35 healthy male pilots exposed to 14.5% oxygen concentration (corresponding to an altitude of 3000 m) underwent resting-state fMRI scans. The independent component analysis (ICA) approach was used to analyze changes in the resting-state brain networks functional connectivity of pilots after hypoxic exposure, and 9 common components in brain functional networks were identified. ⋯ The brain networks functional connectivity after hypoxia exposure decreased significantly, including the left frontoparietal network and visual network 1-area, left frontoparietal network and visual network 2-area, right frontoparietal network and visual network 2-area, dorsal attention network and ventral attention network, dorsal attention network and auditory network, and ventral attention network and visual network 1-area. We found no correlation between the altered functional connectivity and arterial oxygen saturation level. Our findings provide insights into the mechanisms underlying hypoxia-induced cognitive impairment in pilots.

Many patients seek information online, including on social media, regarding various health topics. This study aimed to investigate whether YouTube videos on endometriosis could be a useful source for the general population, surgical trainees, and specialists. A YouTube search was conducted on December 26, 2021, using the search terms "endometriosis," "endometrioma," and "endometriotic cyst." Videos were sorted by view count, and the 100 videos with the highest view counts were chosen. ⋯ YouTube is currently not an appropriate source for patients to gain information on endometriosis. Credible videos with accurate information and clear, high-quality operative clips with proper scientific commentary should be uploaded by medical professionals and medical institutions to critically and rapidly appraise the quality of online video-disseminated information on endometriosis. In addition, advanced filtering using categories by YouTube's staff appears to be necessary.

This study investigates the molecular markers and biological pathways of pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis. We analyzed 2 gene expression profiles in the gene expression omnibus Gene Expression Omnibus database for normal lung tissue and lymphangioleiomyomatosis and identified differential expressed genes in pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis. Ninety-one differentially expressed genes were identified, including 36 upregulated genes and 55 downregulated genes. ⋯ We have identified 10 hub genes in the protein-protein interaction network. Hub genes play an important role in the proliferation and inflammatory response involved in tumor cell proliferation. This study deepens the understanding of lymphangioleiomyomatosis disease and provides a biological basis for further clinical diagnosis and treatment.
