In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy and learning curve of posterior percutaneous endoscopic cervical laminoforaminotomy (PPECLF) in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR). A total of 64 patients with CSR received PPECLF. Clinical outcome scores included the visual analog scale, Japanese Orthopedic Association score, neck disability index, and modified Macnab criteria. ⋯ Decompression with PPECLF was safe and effective in the treatment of CSR. With the accumulation of cases, the operative time was gradually shortened, and the clinical efficacy was significant. The PPECLF procedure can be performed efficiently and safely to treat CSR.

Abdominal wall blocks are frequently used due to the use of effective blocks, such as the transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and the widespread use of ultrasound (US) imaging. A good knowledge of abdominal innervation is required for the use of abdominal wall blocks. We describe the extraordinary performance of external oblique intercostal (EOI) blocks in 3 different surgeries. ⋯ We think that EOI block will come to occupy a significant place in upper abdominal analgesia, especially in obese patients, due to its wide innervation area and ease of application.

Depression has been associated with adverse outcomes in patients with cardiac disease. Data on its prevalence and the factors influencing it are limited in the cardiac rehabilitation program (CRP) setting. To elucidate the prevalence of and the factors that influence depression in patients attending CRP. ⋯ The prevalence of depression is high in patients attending CRP affecting 28% of the population. BDI-II is a simple validated screening tool that can be applied to patients attending CRP. Diabetics, current smokers, and South Asians all had a higher prevalence of depression.

Based on Pinnacle39.10 treatment planning system (TPS) automatic planning module, we investigated the effect of minimum segmentation area (MSA) parameters on Auto-Plan Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (AP-IMRT) without affecting the dose distribution of the target and the Organ at Risk (OAR). The results provided the basis for the ideal MSA parameters in the design of AP-IMRT plan. Ten patients with cervical cancer in our hospital were selected randomly for AP-IMRT design. ⋯ Increasing the MSA allows for improved plan delivery accuracy and efficiency without significantly affecting the AP-IMRT plan quality. The MSA in the range of 14 to 50 cm2 can obtain a more reasonable dose distribution in the target area while the dose of target area and OAR had no significant changes. It is important to improve the plan quality, delivery accuracy, and efficiency for cervical AP-IMRT radiation therapy.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), regulatory noncoding RNAs, are involved in gene regulation and may play a role in cancer development. The aim of this study was to identify miRNAs involved in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) using bioinformatics analysis. MiRNA (GSE135918), mRNA (GSE136043) and lncRNA (GSE130779) microarray datasets were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to identify differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMis), mRNAs (DEMs), and lncRNA (DELs) in LUAD. ⋯ And the high expression level of hsa-miR-3944 was associated with poor OS (P < .05). Hsa-miR-30a-3p may suppress the occurrence and progression of lung cancer through Wnt and AKT signaling pathways and become a good biomarker in LUAD. Hsa-miR-3944 and hsa-miR-3652 may serve as new biomarkers in LUAD.
