Zavegepant nasal spray is a novel CGRP receptor antagonist that has been developed for the acute treatment of migraine - a prevalent disease leading to disability and economic burden. The meta-analysis aims to quantify the efficacy of Zavegepant compared to standard care or placebo in achieving pain freedom, freedom from most bothersome symptoms (MBS), sustained pain freedom, and pain relapse at 2 to 48 hours. ⋯ This meta-analysis confirms the effectiveness of Zavegepant nasal spray in treating acute migraine, with significant improvements in pain and symptom relief. Further research is needed to determine the effect on pain relapse and overall safety.

The objectives of the researchers are as follows: First, to investigate whether intraoperative or postoperative administration of Intravenous (IV) iron supplements in patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) can contribute to the hemoglobin recovery during the postoperative period (between 4 and 8 weeks after surgery). Second, to examine whether the administration of IV iron supplements during or immediately after TKA in patients undergoing primary TKA can reduce the need for allogenic blood transfusion during hospitalization. ⋯ The administration of IV iron supplements during or after TKA surgery increases hemoglobin recovery between 4 and 8 weeks after surgery and reduces the need for allogeneic blood transfusion during hospitalization.

Cervical spine Rosai-Dorfman disease: A case report and literature review.
Rosai-Dorfman disease is a benign lymphatic tissue proliferative disease with slow growth and is rarely observed in the clinic. Most of these patients present clinically with enlarged lymph nodes. In patients with spinal extranodal Rosai-Dorfman disease, which is even rare than the disease of lymph nodes, patients may experience numbness and weakness in the extremities. ⋯ Spinal Rosai-Dorfman disease is a relatively rare tumor of which the pathogenesis is still unclear, and most patients have no specific clinical manifestations. Characteristic imaging findings can indicate this disease, however, a definitive diagnosis still depends on a pathological examination. Currently, total surgical resection of the tumor is a relatively effective and preferred treatment.

Postoperative pain occurs immediately after surgery. The most common perioperative analgesic methods are nerve block, patient-controlled intravenous analgesia, and patient-controlled epidural analgesia. However, overuse of opioid analgesics can cause many adverse reactions including excessive sedation, respiratory inhibition, postoperative nausea, and vomiting. ⋯ Perioperative acupuncture has benefits in reducing postoperative pain and opioid need. Although analgesic drugs are still the primary means of postoperative pain control, acupuncture provides a safe analgesic supplement or alternative. This review aimed to assist practitioners in choosing appropriate perioperative acupuncture methods by summarizing the recent literature on the role of different acupuncture approaches for perioperative pain management.

Prenatal diagnosis of 7q11.23 microdeletion: Two cases report and literature review.
Chromosome microdeletions within 7q11.23 can result in Williams-Beuren syndrome which is a rare autosomal dominant disorder. Williams-Beuren syndrome is usually associated with developmental delay, cardiovascular anomalies, mental retardation, and characteristic facial appearance. ⋯ The genotype-phenotype of Williams-Beuren syndrome is complicated due to the phenotypic diversity. For prenatal cases, clinicians should consider the combination of ultrasonography, traditional cytogenetic, and molecular diagnosis technology when genetic counseling.
