We aimed to investigate the effect of the chosen pedicle on nipple vascularity by evaluating changes in the microvascular circulation of the nipples in patients undergoing reduction mammoplasty through superb microvascular imaging study (SMI). 70 nipples were included in this retrospective study. There were 15 patients (30 nipples) in Group A using the inferior pedicle and 20 patients (40 nipples) in Group B using the superomedial pedicle. The vascular index (VI) of each nipple were evaluated preoperatively and at the third postoperative month using SMI. ⋯ The mean VI in Group B was 1.65 (0.7/2.9) preoperatively and 1.15 (0.2/1.9) at the third postoperative month (P < .05). While the VI increased by 11.3% in Group A, it decreased by 30.6% in Group B (P < .001). The changing of the VI was analyzed between comparable groups, and decreasing microvascular circulation of the nipple with use of the superomedial pedicle was detected by quantitative values, which can be useful in at-risk patient groups, the planning of surgical procedures, and early revisions at postoperative month 3.

Lateral epicondylitis is one of the most common elbow joint injuries and elbow anatomy is a risk factor. Our study aims to evaluate whether the elbow carrying angle affects the development of lateral epicondylitis by considering sex differences. Elbow radiographs of 211 people (aged 18-65 years) diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis and having anteroposterior radiographs of the elbow taken in the appropriate position in the imaging archive of our hospital between January 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. ⋯ No significant relationship was found between the lateral epicondylitis and control groups based on sex (P = .383), side (P = .634) and age (P = .189). The mean elbow carrying angle was 13.8 ± 3.7 in the group with lateral epicondylitis and 15.9 ± 3.6 in the control group and was significantly lower in the group with lateral epicondylitis (P < .05). A decrease in the elbow carrying angle namely cubitus varus, may lead to the development of lateral epicondylitis.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a significant contributor to cancer-related mortality globally, with the heterogeneity of metastasis and treatment impacting patient prognosis. Currently, the treatment of GC still relies on early surgical resection, and comprehensive treatment is needed for patients with metastatic GC. Anikis-related genes (ANRGs) have been shown to affect tumor metastasis. ⋯ In addition, we screened the small molecule compound SGC-CBP30 that can inhibit ANXA5 and CCN1, and these results help individualized treatment of GC patients. Our study identified key genes based on ANRGs and developed a novel gene signature for predicting the prognosis of GC patients and understanding the relationship between immunity and tumor mutation burden. Additionally, we identified chemotherapeutic drugs that can guide GC treatment and elucidated the binding affinity between specific targeted drugs and distinct protein sites, providing novel insights for the precise treatment of GC patients.

Laparoscopy-assisted peritoneal dialysis catheter placement using a modified minimally invasive approach: A retrospective observational study.
Peritoneal dialysis is a reliable and effective treatment for end-stage kidney disease. However, inadequate catheter insertion can lead to mechanical dysfunction, which remains an unresolved problem. In this study, we present the initial results of a modified laparoscopic approach. ⋯ The median peritoneal dialysis catheter-free survival was 25.96 ± 4.02 months. The catheter-free survival rate was 92.11%. The modified laparoscopic approach has been demonstrated to be a safe and effective option, and initial studies have indicated that it offers several benefits over traditional methods, including a straightforward procedure with a brief duration, minimal complications, and brief hospital stay.

Case Reports
Self-limited corneal ectasia in a post-LASIK eye after cataract surgery: A case report.
To present a case with a history of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) developing central conic protrusion after phacoemulsification cataract surgery, which spontaneously resolved 5 months postoperatively. ⋯ For post-LASIK patient who developed corneal protrusion following uneventful cataract surgery with a clear corneal incision, the clear corneal wound may have disrupted the biomechanical stability of the post-LASIK eye, compromising the peripheral stromal integrity. Additionally, postoperative inflammation could have contributed to corneal ectasia. Smaller clear corneal wounds or scleral tunnel entry during cataract surgery in post-LASIK eyes should be considered. Monitoring wound healing and using topical steroids can aid in achieving satisfactory outcomes and reducing the potential vision-threatening complications associated with corneal ectasia.
