Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a sudden decline in renal function after cardiac surgery. It is characterized by a significant reduction in glomerular filtration rate, alterations in serum creatinine (S. Cr) levels, and urine output. ⋯ Cr levels (from 1.064 ± 0.2504 to 1.255 ± 0.2673, P < .000). Age and cardiopulmonary bypass duration were identified as risk factors along with ejection fraction and days of hospital stay, contributing to the development of AKI. Early renal replacement therapy can be planned when the diagnosis of AKI is established early after surgery.

Cleft lip and/or palate is the most prevalent type of head and neck deformity, accounting for 65% of cases. The occurrence of this condition is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Cleft defects are classified into 2 types: syndromic cleft lip and palate syndrome and non-syndromic cleft lip and palate syndrome. ⋯ The primary risk factors associated with cleft lip and palate include a family history of the condition, lack of folic acid supplementation, maternal age over 35 years, and high temperatures exceeding 39 °C. Consequently, we recommend that mothers who intend to conceive should take folic acid supplements at a dose of 0.4 to 0.8 mg during the initial trimester of pregnancy. Additionally, we advise careful monitoring of all risk factors, particularly during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Mitophagy-related genes could facilitate the development of septic shock during immune infiltration.
Septic shock often occurs following critically low blood pressure in patients with sepsis, and is accompanied by a high death rate. Although mitophagy is associated with infection and immune responses, its role in septic shock remains unknown. This study screened effective mitophagy-related genes (MRGs) for medical practice and depicted immune infiltration situations in patients with septic shock. ⋯ Importantly, patients with septic shock with the 3 highly expressed hub genes displayed worse prognosis than did patients without septic shock. MAP1LC3B, ULK1, and CDC37 are considered hub MRGs in the development of septic shock and could represent promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in blood tissue. The validated hub genes and immune infiltration pattern expand our knowledge on MRG functional mechanisms, which provides guidance and direction for the development of septic shock diagnostic and therapeutic markers.

To investigate the effect of pretreatment of tumor biopsy specimens using fixed, dehydrated and transparent three-in-one composite environmental protection reagent ultrasound tissue rapid processing technique on subsequent detection. From April 2020 to October 2020, a total of 100 cases including breast, stomach and lung tissues were submitted to our diagnosis, and 3 specimens were collected from each specimen and divided into the control group (traditional biopsy tissue processing method), experimental group 1 (3.7% neutral buffered formaldehyde fixation, compound environmental protection reagent rapid ultrasound tissue processing technique, processing temperature 48 °C, time 20 minutes/time, twice, wax immersion temperature 62 °C, time 25 minutes) and experimental group 2 (3.7% neutral buffered formaldehyde fixation, compound environmental protection reagent rapid ultrasound tissue processing technique, processing temperature 50 °C, time 15 min/time, twice, Wax dipping temperature 64 °C, time 20 minutes). ⋯ There was no significant difference in the results between experiment 1 and experiment 2 groups. The rapid processing technique of ultrasound tissue with compound environmental protection reagent can be applied to the rapid detection of tumor biopsy specimens, and different processing temperatures and durations have no significant effect on the accuracy of HE staining, IHC, fluorescence in situ hybridization and gene mutation detection.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) results in one of the deadliest solid tumors with discouraging clinical outcomes. Growing evidence suggests that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in altering the growth, prognosis, migration, and invasion of pancreatic cancer cells. Cuproptosis is a novel type of cell death induced by copper (Cu) and is associated with mitochondrial respiration during the tricarboxylic acid cycle. ⋯ Higher tumor mutation burden (TMB) and lower tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion (TIDE) scores were observed in the high-risk group. Additionally, the low-risk group was hypersensitive to 3 anti-cancer medications, whereas the high-risk group was hypersensitive to one. A prognostic risk model with a good predictive ability based on cuproptosis-related lncRNAs was developed, providing a theoretical basis for personalized treatment and immunotherapeutic responses in pancreatic cancer.
