Meta Analysis
Efficacy of laparoscopic inguinal hernia in day surgery mode and inpatient surgery mode in China: A meta-analysis.
In China, laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair (LIHR) under the day surgery mode (DSM) has developed rapidly as an important surgical method for inguinal hernia repair, and it has unique advantages in many aspects. Compared with inpatient surgery mode (ISM), there are some differences in intraoperative and postoperative related indicators, hospitalization costs, and patient satisfaction. Many studies have shown that LIHR in DSM can significantly shorten hospital stay, effectively reduce hospitalization costs, and improve patient satisfaction. Accordingly, this study aimed to compare the differences in intraoperative and postoperative related indicators, hospitalization costs, and patient satisfaction of LIHR between DSM and ISM in China. ⋯ In China, compared with ISM, LIHR under DSM can significantly shorten hospital stay, greatly reduce hospitalization costs, and significantly improve patient satisfaction. There were no significant differences in operation time, recovery time and postoperative complications.

This study was performed to assess the association of TLR4 gene 2026A/G (rs1927914), 896A/G (rs4986790), and 1196C/T (rs4986791) polymorphisms and cancer susceptibility based on published case-control studies. ⋯ People with A allele of rs1927914, G allele of rs4986790, or T allele of rs4986791 have higher risks of cancer. The results of meta-analysis are stable and have less probability of false positives.

The human aldo-keto reductase (AKRs) superfamily is involved in the development of various tumors. However, the different expression patterns of AKRs and their prognostic value in gastric cancer (GC) have not been clarified. In this study, we analyzed the gene expression and gene methylation level of AKRs in GC patients and the survival data and immune infiltration based on AKRs expression, using data from different databases. ⋯ The methylation of AKR6A5 (KCNAB2) at cg05307871 and cg01907457 was significantly associated with the classification of GC. Meta-analysis and ROC curve analysis show that the expression level of AKR1B1 and the methylation of cg16156182 (KCNAB1), cg11194299 (KCNAB2), cg16132520 (AKR1B1), and cg13801416 (AKR1B1) had a high hazard ratio and a good prognostic value. These data suggest that the expression and methylation of AKR1B1 and AKR6A5 are significantly related to the prognosis.

Probiotics to prevent necrotizing enterocolitis and reduce mortality in neonates: A meta-analysis.
Probiotics are gradually being used as a supplementation to prevent necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and reduce mortality in neonates. We performed an updated meta-analysis to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of prophylactic probiotic supplementation for preventing NEC. ⋯ This meta-analysis indicates that the use of probiotics can effectively reduce the occurrence of NEC and mortality in neonates.

Review Case Reports
Endometrioid adenofibroma of ovary: A case report and review of literature.
Endometrioid adenofibroma is a benign epithelial neoplasm of the ovary, most of which are often unilateral. The symptoms of endometrioid adenofibroma are often nonspecific and misleading. Therefore, a full understanding of the characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment methods of this disease is of great importance. In this study, we report a 34-year-old woman who was found with an unidentified mass on the right ovary during the physical examination 3 years ago with nosymptoms or signs. ⋯ Endometrioid adenofibroma is a benign epithelial neoplasm of the ovary. Complete surgical resection is required and rare cases can recur. Postsurgical pathologic and immunohistochemical testing can confirm a diagnosis of endometrioid adenofibroma. It is important to understand of the key points of differential diagnosis of the disease due to the different prognosis and clinical treatment.
