Meta Analysis
Meta-analysis of modified Sijunzi decoction for the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis.
Qi deficiency in the spleen and stomach is considered to be the fundamental pathogenesis of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) in Traditional Chinese medicine. Spleen strengthening and Qi replenishment are the basic treatment principles. Sijunzi Decoction serves as the fundamental remedy for spleen notification and Qi replenishment. ⋯ Modified Sijunzi Decoction exhibited superior efficacy to conventional Western medicine in treating CAG. It was shown to improve the Helicobacter pylori eradication rate, reduce symptom scores, enhance quality of life, and improve pepsinogen-related indicators with a high safety profile.

Prognostic values of serum lactate-to-bicarbonate ratio and lactate for predicting 28-day in-hospital mortality in children with dengue shock syndrome.
This study aimed to assess the clinical utility of blood lactate-to-bicarbonate (L/B) ratio, as a prognostic factor for 28-day in-hospital mortality in children with dengue shock syndrome (DSS), admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). This single-center retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary children hospital in southern Vietnam from 2013 to mid-2022. Prognostic models for DSS mortality were developed, using a predefined set of covariates in the first 24 hours of PICU admission. ⋯ Combined with the identified clinical predictors, the L/B ratio yielded higher prognostic values (odds ratio [OR] = 8.66, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.96-38.3; P < .01) than the lactate-based model (OR = 1.35, 95% CI, 1.15-1.58; P < .001). Both the L/B and lactate models showed similarly good performances. Considering that the L/B ratio has a better prognostic value than the lactate model, it may be considered a potential prognostic biomarker in clinical use for predicting 28-day mortality in PICU-admitted children with DSS.

A real-world study of different doses of rivaroxaban in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.
To explore the anticoagulant effect and safety of utilizing different doses of rivaroxaban for the treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) in the real world. A retrospective case-control analysis was performed by applying the hospital database, and 3595 patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) who were hospitalized and taking rivaroxaban at Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital and Wuhan Asia General Hospital from March 2018 to December 2021 were included in the study, and were divided into the rivaroxaban 10 mg and 15 mg groups according to the daily prescribed dose, of which 443 cases were in the 10 mg group and 3152 cases were in the 15 mg group. ⋯ In the real world, Asian clinicians recommend rivaroxaban 10 mg once daily for NVAF patients for a variety of reasons; however, this dose is not superior or even inferior to the 15 mg group in terms of effectiveness and safety. Advanced age, elevated D-dimer levels, history of diabetes mellitus, and persistent AF are risk factors for adverse events, and the optimal dosage of rivaroxaban or optimal anticoagulation strategy for Asian patients with nonvalvular AF requires further study.

Patellar tendon rupture (PTR) is extremely rare but serious complication after primary or revision total knee arthroplasty. Due to the serious failure rates of end-to-end repair techniques, various augmentation techniques have been described. In this study, the results of patients with PTR after reconstruction using our own technique with semitendinosus (ST) and gracilis tendons taken from the affected side were evaluated retrospectively. ⋯ For PTR developing after total knee arthroplasty, the double-row reconstruction technique with ST and gracilis tendons is effective.

Correlation between serum inflammatory factors and cognitive function in patients with high-altitude polycythemia: A case-control study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the serum inflammatory factors in patients with high-altitude polycythemia (HAPC) and their correlation with cognitive function. The subjects were recruited and placed into a HAPC group and control group. Serum samples were collected, and inflammatory factors (interleukin-1beta [IL-1β], monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 [MCP-1], and tumor necrosis factor-alpha [TNF-α]) were measured using ELISA kits. ⋯ The Pearson correlation analysis showed that inflammatory factors were positively correlated with hemoglobin, and negatively correlated with MMSE. Serum inflammatory cytokines IL-1, MCP-1, and TNF-α were increased in HAPC, and HAPC exhibited cognitive dysfunction. Considering chronic hypoxia environment influences the change of the red blood cell metabolic and inflammatory factor, red blood cells and inflammatory factor in plateau is likely to be affected by patients with vascular lesions, increase cognitive impairment.
