Granulomatous lobular mastitis (GLM) is an idiopathic inflammatory breast disease that tends to recur on the same side. With the accumulation of clinical cases, it has been observed that GLM can also occur contralaterally. Currently, most studies on GLM focus on treatment methods and risk factors for ipsilateral recurrence, and there are few reports on bilateral GLM. ⋯ Additionally, because of the simultaneous or interval onset on both sides, the duration of the disease was longer compared to unilateral cases. Regarding the history of external hospital treatment, it was found that about 57.63% of patients with bilateral GLM received 2 or more treatment modalities, with a higher involvement of herbal medicine. Meanwhile, by counting the clinical data of the 2 groups of patients with bilateral GLM and unilateral GLM, it was shown by univariate analysis that fertility, nipple development, absolute CD4 value, and CD4/CD8 ratio were associated with contralateral onset of GLM in both groups, with inverted nipple being an independent risk factor.

Growing evidences of recent studies have shown that gut microbrome are causally related to digestive system diseases (DSDs). However, causal relationships between the gut microbiota and the risk of DSDs still remain unclear. We utilized identified gut microbiota based on class, family, genus, order and phylum information and digestive system diseases genome-wide association study (GWAS) dataset for two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. ⋯ We discovered 15 causal associations with genetic liabilities in the gut microbiota and DSDs, such as genus Victivallis, genus RuminococcaceaeUCG005, genus Ruminococcusgauvreauiigroup, genus Oxalobacter and so on. Our MR analysis revealed that the gut microbiota is causally associated with DSDs. Further researches of the gut microbiota and the pathogenesis of DSDs are still significant and provide new methods for the prevention and treatment of DSDs.

With the global migrant population on the rise, it's imperative to focus on the health status of more vulnerable groups within these communities. The elderly immigrants face myriad physical and psychosocial challenges that significantly impact their health and quality of life. This study aims to investigate the nutrition, daily life activities, and clinical frailty status of elderly immigrants residing in Türkiye. ⋯ Among immigrant elderly individuals, 88.1% were able to sustain their lives independently, 13.9% were clinically frail, and 3.3% were at risk of malnutrition. Factors such as age, level of education, socioeconomic status, marital status, number of cohabitants in the household, BMI, neurological problems, walking-balance disorders, disability, and presence of chronic diseases are associated with daily life activities, frailty, and malnutrition status. It is believed that broader field research with greater participation would be beneficial for evaluating the nutritional status of immigrant elderly individuals.

Low-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (LGSOC) is a rare subtype of ovarian cancer that accounts for approximately 6% to 10% of serous ovarian cancers. The clinical treatment of LGSOC is similar to that of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma, however, its clinical and molecular characteristics are different from those of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma. This article reviews the research on gene diagnosis, surgical treatment, chemotherapy, and biological therapy of LGSOC, providing reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of LGSOC. ⋯ Targeted therapies, such as MEKi, show good application prospects and are expected to change the treatment pattern of LGSOC. Continuing to further study the genomics of LGSOC, identify its specific gene changes, and combine traditional treatment methods with precision targeted therapy based on second-generation sequencing may be the direction for LGSOC to overcome the treatment bottleneck. In future clinical work, comprehensive genetic testing should be carried out for LGSOC patients to accumulate data for future scientific research, in order to find more effective methods and drugs for the treatment of LGSOC.

Continuing medical education for attending physicians in anesthesia: Feasibility of an innovative blended learning approach.
Continuing medical education plays a pivotal role in fostering and upholding the standard of excellence in medicine. Both SPOC (small private online course) and BOPPPS (bridge-in, learning objective, pretest, participatory learning, posttest, and summary) methodologies are rooted in the same educational and learning theories, emphasizing active student engagement, interaction, and feedback. Using ultrasound-guided spinal anesthesia as an exemplar, we aimed to investigate the feasibility of blended teaching (combination of BOPPPS and SPOC) for anesthesiology clinicians and explore trainees' and trainers' perspectives towards the innovative method. ⋯ Suggestions for enhancement included enhanced online interactivity with trainers and the inclusion of case analysis. Integration of blended teaching incorporating BOPPPS and SPOC methodologies holds promise for enhancing the efficiency of skill training among anesthesiologists. Blended learning may become a viable and well-received option among anesthesia clinicians in China.
