Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is a crucial marker of cardiovascular system damage. In the Chinese population, the estimation of LDL-C concentration by Friedewald, Martin-Hopkins or Sampson equations is not accurate. The aim of this study was to develop a group of new equations for calculating LDL-C concentration using machine learning techniques and to evaluate their efficacy. ⋯ It could accurately calculate LDL-C concentration even at high triglyceride and low LDL-C. Furthermore, the new equation could also precisely calculate LDL-C concentration in actual clinical use (R2 = 0.9780, MSE = 24.8482). The new equation developed in this study can accurately calculate LDL-C concentration within the full concentration range of triglyceride and LDL-C, and can serve as a supplement to the direct determination of LDL-C concentration for the prevention, treatment, evaluation, and monitoring of atherosclerotic diseases, compared to the Friedewald, Martin/Hopkins and extended Martin/Hopkins, or Sampson equations.

Retrograde jejunoduodenogastric intussusception refers to invagination of distal small intestine into the stomach. It is extremely rare. It is often associated with displaced feeding catheter in which its balloon tip migrates past the gastric pylorus. The intussusception is triggered by retraction of migrated catheter. It is often accompanied by feeding intolerance or catheter malfunction. This report describes a distinctive case of retrograde jejunoduodenogastric intussusception associated with a fully functioning nonballoon nasojejunal tube. ⋯ When a patient under tube feeding exhibits abrupt intractable gastroesophageal reflux with a sign of catheter migration, we must consider the possibility of catheter-related intussusception. Having a fully functioning feeding catheter with nonballoon tip does not preclude retrograde jejunoduodenogastric intussusception.

Adnexal torsion (AT) is one of a gynecological condition characterized by an acute abdomen. Clinically, a giant ovarian cyst torsion with a diameter of 30 cm is rare. Therefore, an accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment are important. ⋯ Giant ovarian cyst torsion with a diameter of 30 cm is rare. Considering her symptoms and examination, ultrasound, and MRI results, ovarian cyst torsion was suspected. The patient was successfully treated using emergency surgery.

Worldwide, an estimated 48 million couples and 186 million individuals are infertile, according to estimates from the World Health Organization. Ethiopia has a higher rate of infertility than the World Health Organization estimated for the entire world. Though research on the issue of infertility is growing both globally and in Ethiopia, not much has been studied. ⋯ Infertile women also used a variety of coping strategies, such as religious strategies, traditional strategies, medical strategies, and other strategies (marital separation and acceptance). The study concluded that infertile women in the study area were challenged by psychological factors and used different coping strategies to manage their ongoing problems. This study also has theoretical implications for the current literature and practical implications for infertile women, non-governmental organizations, community and health professionals.

This study's goal is to evaluate if there is a causal connection between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), despite past epidemiological studies suggesting an association between the 2 disorders. The impact of RA on AMD is still unknown. Mendelian randomization (MR) was utilized in this study to assess the two-sample causal relationship between RA and AMD. ⋯ The current investigation demonstrated a causal link between AMD and RA. RA increased the risk of AMD. It is advised that future research concentrate on the processes underlying the relationship between RA and AMD.
