Posterior mediastinal leiomyosarcoma: Case report and literature review.
Posterior mediastinal leiomyosarcoma is an extremely rare malignant mesenchymal tumor with no special clinical symptoms, which is easily confused with some common tumors in the posterior mediastinum, affecting the accuracy of the first diagnosis by clinicians and delaying the treatment of patients. ⋯ Complete surgical resection of posterior mediastinal leiomyosarcoma can achieve good clinical results.

Randomized Controlled Trial Controlled Clinical Trial
Comparing quality of recovery and satisfaction between spinal anesthesia and nerve block in orthopedic below-knee surgery: A prospective controlled trial.
Postoperative quality of recovery (QoR) and patient satisfaction have gained increasing significance in medical services. This study aimed to compare these 2 parameters between 2 types of regional anesthetics (spinal anesthesia and combined sciatic-femoral nerve block) in orthopedic lower knee surgery. ⋯ Combined sciatic-femoral nerve block may provide better physical independence and satisfaction than spinal anesthesia in orthopedic below-knee surgeries.

Abdominopelvic desmoplastic small round cell tumor with metastasis: A case report and literature review.
Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a rare and rapidly metastasizing soft tissue sarcoma, distinguished by its unique cell morphology and pleomorphic differentiation. ⋯ This case highlights the nonspecific nature of DSRCT symptoms. In clinical practice, it is crucial to meticulously evaluate unexplained intestinal obstruction in young patients, considering DSRCT as a differential diagnosis to avoid delays in diagnosis.

Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, affecting 32 million individuals worldwide. Although atrial fibrillation has been studied for decades, a comprehensive analysis using bibliometrics has not been performed for atrial fibrillation-left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO). Therefore, we analyzed the scientific outputs of global LAAO research and explored the current research status and hotpots from 1994 to 2022. ⋯ We show that the research of percutaneous LAAO has been increasing rapidly over the last decade. Our aim was to overview past studies in the field of LAAO, to grasp the frame of LAAO research, and identify new perspectives for future research.

The co-occurrence of human immunodeficiency virus and malaria presents a complex medical scenario, significantly impacting the quality of life for affected individuals. This comprehensive review synthesizes current knowledge, challenges, and strategies concerning the concurrent management of these infections to improve overall well-being. Epidemiological insights reveal the prevalence and demographic trends, highlighting geographical areas of concern and socioeconomic factors contributing to the burden of co-infection. ⋯ Additionally, the review assesses psychosocial support mechanisms, emphasizing community-based interventions and peer networks in enhancing holistic care. Consideration is given to the role of antiretroviral therapy, malaria prevention strategies, and the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery in optimizing outcomes for this vulnerable population. The paper concludes by emphasizing the significance of multidisciplinary approaches and integrated care models, stressing the need for continued research and collaborative efforts to advance interventions and improve the quality of life for those navigating the complexities of human immunodeficiency virus and malaria co-infection.
