Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of postural restriction after modified Epley maneuver on recurrence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
In the present study, we calculated the success rate of the modified Epley maneuver and determined the effectiveness of post-maneuver positional restriction in terms of the prevention of early and late recurrence. ⋯ Postural restriction after a canalith repositioning procedure does not improve procedural success or decrease early and late recurrence rates. However, the number of patients was too small to detect a difference between both treatment groups.

Case ReportsLaryngeal neuroma in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B.
Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 2 syndrome is an autosomal dominant inherited disease caused by mutations of the RET proto-oncogene, and is clinically divided into three phenotypes: MEN2A, MEN2B, and familial medullary thyroid carcinoma. Although multiple mucosal neuromas are commonly observed in patients with MEN2B, there are only a few reports of laryngeal neuroma. We present here a rare case of laryngeal mucosal neuromas with MEN2B.

Surgery for juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma with lateral extension to the infratemporal fossa.
The study aimed to assess the usefulness of skull base surgery for large juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) with lateral extension to the infratemporal fossa. ⋯ Coupled with craniotomy, tumor removal was successfully carried out in 11 patients with JNAs, which showed large lateral extension. Our surgical strategy is a safe and effective approach for the removal of JNAs with infratemporal fossa extension.

Predicting whether dysphagia will resolve is very difficult, but is obviously important for patients and their families as well as for physicians. This study retrospectively evaluated potential prognostic indicators for dysphagia in order to examine the feasibility of predicting the outcome. ⋯ The results of this study suggest that a combination of factors other than stroke, including cognitive dysfunction and a decrease in activity of daily living (ADL) influence the outcome of dysphagia. It is not rare for patients who resume oral intake to be readmitted within a year for symptoms such as fever. Therefore, effective rehabilitation programs should be developed for the impairments of elderly patients and common disabilities such as dysphagia.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyUsefulness of nasal packing with silver-containing carboxy methylated cellulose in endonasal sinus surgery.
Silver-containing carboxymethylcellulose fiber dressing (Aquacel®-Ag) has been used to treat burns and ulcers with a large amount of exudate. The aim of this investigation was to confirm whether Aquacel®-Ag has beneficial effects when it is used as nasal packing. ⋯ The results indicate that Aquacel®-Ag might contribute to hemostasis, wound healing, and patient comfort after endonasal surgery, similar to Beschitin-F®. Additionally, it may have advantages concerning the prevention of postoperative infection.
