To quantify the volume and nature of radiological imaging performed for e-scooter related trauma presentations in a tertiary referral centre and to identify common radiological pattern of injuries. ⋯ E-scooter-related injuries represent a new and emerging high-energy trauma patient. These patients demonstrate injury patterns similar to other high-energy trauma such as road traffic accidents. Although the most common injuries are musculoskeletal upper limb injuries typical of FOOSH, a large proportion of these require advanced diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI) which were commonly positive for significant injuries.

Preeclampsia (PE) poses a substantial risk to prenatal and maternal health. Folic acid (FA) and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) play roles in DNA methylation and genomic integrity maintenance, with MTHFR polymorphisms potentially impacting PE occurrence. Human microRNA 149 (miR-149) remains underexplored in PE despite its involvement in folate metabolism. This study seeks to evaluate serum miR-149 levels with the MTHFR C677T polymorphism for diagnosing PE. ⋯ Merging miR-149 and MTHFR polymorphism assessment improves discrimination between healthy and PE groups, offering valuable insights into PE pathogenesis and potential diagnostic strategies.

Reducing the door-to-balloon time (D2BT) in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients maximizes myocardial salvage and mitigates morbidity/mortality. ⋯ Nearly half of the patients studied failed to achieve the overall target D2BT for revascularization. The time from arrival at the CHB ED to diagnostic ECG was identified as a substantial contributor to this failure, with a median time almost twice that of the target and a quarter of all patients spending longer than 46.8 min. These findings highlight a need to improve the implementation of ECG triage and interpretation in the ED.

To validate the predictive performance of the THRIVE, ASTRAL, and iScore scales for clinical functional outcomes following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). ⋯ The iScore is a reliable tool for assessing the poor prognosis of MT in patients with AIS.

In this study, the relationship between maximum carotid plaque area and stroke prognosis was analysed by carotid ultrasonography, and the relevant risk factors affecting the prognosis of acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) were investigated to provide novel insights into stroke prevention and management. ⋯ The maximum carotid plaque area and history of previous stroke are important predictors for assessing prognosis in patients with AIS.
