Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Oxaceprol versus tramadol for knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled trial.
To assess efficacy and safety of oxaceprol, a hydroxyproline derivative with putative mechanism of action different from traditional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, in symptomatic knee osteoarthritis, in comparison to tramadol. ⋯ Efficacy and tolerability of oxaceprol were comparable to tramadol, and the drug can be considered as an alternative to low-potency opioids in the management of knee osteoarthritis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of midazolam with fentanyl-midazolam combination during flexible bronchoscopy: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
Sedation during flexible bronchoscopy is desirable, but the drugs and the dosage protocols that are used vary. ⋯ Conscious sedation with fentanyl and midazolam combination can result in better patient and operator satisfaction when compared with midazolam alone.

Inflammation plays a critical role in the progression of diabetic complications such as neurological disorders. Previous reports have indicated the memory-improving effect of troxerutin, in rat hippocampus, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. Hence, we have investigated the effect of troxerutin pretreatment on gene expressions of inflammation-related microRNAs (miRs), miR-146a and miR-155, and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway in the hippocampus of healthy and diabetic rats. ⋯ These findings showed that troxerutin could inhibit the inflammatory NF-κB pathway in the hippocampus of diabetic rats, which may be due to the negative feedback loop regulated by miR-146a.

Phenytoin is a commonly used antiepileptic medication in the pediatric age group, but it has a narrow therapeutic range. Various adverse effects have been reported commonly. We report a relatively rare case of encephalopathy in a child from overdose of injectable phenytoin due to ignorance of the previous treatment. Scrutiny of medical records and history is of utmost importance while administering such medications.
